Cassie had gotten changed into a pair of jeans, that's colour was fading, along with a white crop top, which showed her midriff slightly. She kept her red high tops on, finding comfort in them as they blanketed her feet. She looked into the mirror, wiping her face with a small, wet cloth, removing the black stains that had settled under her eyes. It washed away quickly, leaving her face bare and red. Her eyes were blood shock, with her eyelids hanging low. She was exhausted but she couldn't stop. She picked up the money that she had on her bedside table. She thought it would be best to move it before the party started, otherwise, she would never see it again. She looked at herself once more in the mirror before walking away, out of her room and down the stairs. "Be back soon," she called out to the others, who yelled goodbye to her as she walked out the door. She spotted Elijah in his truck and watched as he tapped on his wheel. She could hear faint music coming from his truck, which was causing him to channel his inner drummer. She smiled to herself as she walked over to the passenger door, opening it, only for the music hit her with force. Elijah looked over at her as her face scrunched up, causing a faint smile to cross his face, before reaching over to the radio, turning it down, so it was at a whispered hush. She looked over at him before climbing into his car, closing the door beside her and looking back over to him, whilst she buckled her seatbelt.
He admired her, watching her, "You okay princess?" He asked. She blushed, completely taken aback once more by the nickname. It was beginning to become her favourite nickname. He chuckled as she blushed, looking away from him. He began reversing down her driveway, as she turned back to him, "I'm okay. Are you?" There was a slight hesitation in her voice, which Elijah noticed instantly. He looked out his mirror as she watched him tilt his head back, as he turned the wheel. The car jolted as they exited the driveway and onto the road. He straightened the car out on the road, head still tilted back before he moved forward, adjusting himself in his seat.
They set off from the house and he turned back to her, "Yeah I'm good," he replied, looking at her longingly. He wanted answers more than anything, but he also wanted her. Never to admit it, he just wanted her. "You know you can tell me anything," he sincerely spoke, extending his hand out, and placing it on hers. She looked at her hand and then back up to him smiling. He smiled back before removing her hand, not wanting to make her uncomfortable.
They sat quietly for a while. Cassie admired the scenery, watching it blur as they drove past. Soon after, a familiar tune began to play on the radio and Cassie began to hum quietly to herself, tapping her fingers on the door, watching the trees race by. Elijah noticed and turned the radio up slightly so it could be heard easier and filled the quietness. Cassie smiled as he turned it up and began to sing softly and quietly to the words.
"Oh, you're a loaded gun, yeah." She was quiet, the music still being louder than her, but Elijah could hear her faint voice, smiling to himself as he continued to drive down the road, the woodland trees towering over them.
"No one can save me," he sang loudly, causing Cassie to turn and look at him, a wide smile on her face. "The damage is done."
"Shot through the heart," she sang louder than before, her voice still soft, as he looked back over to her. "And you to blame." She pointed at him humorously, moving her head a little to the beat.
He joined in singing with her, pointing back at her, "You give love a bad name."
They continued singing to the song, laughing between choruses and verses, Cassie drumming the beat on the door, whilst Elijah did the same on the wheel. Once the song had ended, they laughed over the radio's presenter before Elijah turned the radio back down, still laughing. They pulled up into the store's parking lot and the car steadily came to a halt. They composed themselves before Elijah stepped out of the car, whilst Cassie undid her seatbelt, as she turned to open the door, she saw Elijah already opening it, allowing her to get out.
