"Where are we going?" Lily asked, leaning her head on Alex's shoulder as Alex leaned her head on Lily's head. Alex barely slept the night before and was now fast asleep on Lily contently.

"We're going to another dinner. You have to behave okay?"

"I know, I know." Lily said with a smile.

Katherine was sat next to Lily, texting a college friend about times for studying when she got back. Lily was playing Minecraft on her tablet.

They soon arrived fifteen minutes later and Alex was woken up by soft poking on her cheek. She wore a blue and white striped sweater crop-top and ripped jeans with her black and white converse and a little black beanie on her head.

"Good morning." Lily said with a smile, despite it being almost 1:30 in the afternoon.

"Mm, hello." Alex replied with a small laugh. Everyone got out of the car and she was greeted by Karl's house.

"Why are we at Karl's?" She asked, looking back at her father who got out of the driver's side.

"Surprise." He said, smiling at her and gently pushing her forward. Corry greeted her like normal, running up and hugging her as well as Shawn.

"Come on in, Karl is still asleep. He hadn't slept much last night trying to do some planning with his boss even though he's supposed to be off work." Corry said with a smile, leading everyone inside.

"Ashton should be here soon, he's running a tad late." Kathering said, walking into the house. She'd never actually been inside Karl's home more than once but it hadn't changed much in layout or design and looked very nice.

"Im joining Karl in sleeping." Alex said, wondering into the living room to greet his parents before walking back to his bedroom. She knocked lightly before walking in and slipping off her shoes and hat.

"Who's it." He asked tiredly.

"It's Lex, just go back to sleep." She said, crawling overtop of him and laying down next to him.

"You okay?" He asked, wrapping his arm around her and playing with her hair before pulling the blanket on top of her as well and resuming playing with her hair.

"Rough night." She said softly, cuddling into his chest.

"You wanna talk about it?"

"No, i just wanna lay with you." She said softly, dozing off once again.

"Then laying with me you shall do." He responded, voice trailing off due to exhaustion. Though the pair had a dinner to attend, neither cared and just wanted to hold one another in the darkness of the childhood room they'd made countless memories in.

"Karl?"

"Yeah, Lex?"

"I, uh, I still like- I dont know, forget it." She said, voice wavering and fear taking over.

"Its very much mutual, Alex. Ive not been oblivious. Im still very much in love with you too." He spoke for her.

"Really?"

"Yeah, Alex. You're literally it for me. Ive never loved anyone the way I love you. Im just waiting for you to be ready and finally be able to admit your feelings for me to someone other than Katherine and Ashton. Be able to say it out loud to me. Once that happens, we go from there. Until then, im okay with knowing and waiting around." He spoke, holding her tighter to his chest.

"Im sorry." She said sadly.

"Don't be, i was scared too, Alex. I mean its not easy, being hurt for four years and then all of a sudden now your feelings are back full force and coming out after shoving them down for so long because youre around them so much. Nobody is forcing you to admit them nor telling you you have to right now. I know of your feelings, Alex, and thats enough until you yourself can admit them. Take it slow, im in no rush."

"Are you just saying this because youre half asleep?"

"That's giving me the confidence to say it, i wont lie, but ive been thinking on it the last few days anyway so I was bound to either say it now or in the car on the way back home tonight."

"And you'll still love me even if it takes months for me to admit it?"

"Even if it takes months for you to admit it, Alex. Now go to sleep, okay? I'll protect you."

She fell asleep in his arms before waking up from Karl's soft shaking an hour later to go eat with everyone. They talked and laughed and had fun. By the end of the night, everyone said their goodbyes and got into their respective cars.

"So, you remember the conversation from earlier right?" Alex asked into the darkness of the car.

"Yeah, i do. I wasn't that far gone, Lex." He said with a small laugh.

"I was just making sure." She said with a giggle in response. "I really just wanted to say how much I appreciated it. I just feel like i have to know it all and not be scared and i think thats even more terrifying than being scared of everything."

"That's normal, Lex. Most people wouldn't wait around, but im not most people and I know who im waiting for is worth the wait. Even if all i feel by the end of it is pain, you will always be worth it."

"Really?"

"Really."
