A few short hours later we'd arrived in Alaska and Tsuki abandoned us the second she touched the ground, ready to wreak havoc on the city.
I rolled my eyes and walked with Damian -who appeared seconds later- to his parents home."Just FYI they -more specifically your mom- didn't take the new so well. Just.... tread lightly" I warned as we made our way through the woods.
"Of course. I wouldn't expect anything less, she is my mother after all." He agreed with a curt nod, studying the surrounding woods.
"Are you ready for this?"
"Why wouldn't I be?"
"Damian."
"Astrid."I sighed heavily and stopped, grabbing his arm.
"I'm serious. They're your parents and they had to go through the loss of losing you, just like I did."
"I'm ok, I promise." He smiled encouragingly and led the rest of the way to his parents home.As we grew closer to the door we heard his parents -Nuri and Sebastian- along with three other voices I quickly recognized as his aunt, uncle and cousin -Amy, Austin and Titus. Though they didn't visit often I knew they were all very close with Damian, they used to take care of him whenever Nuri and Sebastian needed a break.
I took a deep breath before inviting myself inside, taking in the cozy scene before me.Amy and Austin sat on a sofa opposite to the armchairs Nuri and Sebby were sitting in and I'm pretty sure I could hear Titus rummaging around in the kitchen.
"Hey guys." I mumbled, stepping in and making sure to keep Damian hidden for the moment.
"Astrid! I'm so glad you're here, I was getting worried." Nuri cried, scrambling over to pull me in for a tight hug. She was like a second mother to me, never wasn't there when I needed her, even if that meant scaring some idiot in dragon form."Im ok, I've been processing some new information this past week and decided to visit." She smiled at me before pulling me into the living room and having me sit on a beanbag chair the Damian so often sat on.
"Like what?" Sebby -a nickname Nuri created to annoy her husband- asked curiously."Oh y'know, it's odd meeting one's guardian." I shrugged innocently and grinned as Damian pushed the door open the rest of the way.
I watched as Nuri's eyes filled with tears and ran over, pulling her son closer for a hug."My baby!" She cried, practically squeezing the life out of him. Well- never mind.
I laughed softly at my own thoughts before turning to Sebastian.
"Damian said you might have a way to bring him.... Back to normal."
"That I do, but it does come with a cost." Sebby agreed warningly.
"Like?" I prodded.
"He would return to the place of his death -completely healed- but with no memory of what's happened since, although it will all come back to him within a couple of days since it hasn't been that long.""I think that's worth it, don't you Da-" I paused as I realized Nuri still hadn't let go of her child and laughed.
"I'm just glad she can't kill me all over again." He muttered with the little breath he had.
"Just wait. Just wait...."
He rolled his eyes before gently prying his distraught mother off so he could breathe.
"Nuri why don't you and Amy go get some water." Sebby suggested, probably so she could get over this emotional overload. She nodded and went with her niece to the kitchen.
"On a different note, yes, I think it's worth it. We can do it in a couple of days so we're not wasting a trip to Alaska."
Within a few hours we'd sorted everything out and left to get to my grandmothers pack for the night.~~~~
The days flew by too fast and soon enough Damian and I were walking to the cave we'd promised to meet his dad at in order to complete the thing. Damian laughed everytime I said 'complete the thing', but in my defense, I didn't know what else to call it.
Anywho, we were both silent as we walked, too lost in thought to speak.
"Damian-"
"Astrid-"We looked at eachother and laughed lightly.
"You first." I mumbled, fidgeting.
"I want to say, well, thanks for one. I'm only here because of you, and two, you are the best friend I could ask for. I can't wait to come back to you, completely normal. Because I've had something on my mind forever."
"I already know how you feel." I interrupted his rant.
"What? How?"
"You told me." I felt my eyes start to water at the memory.
"When you were dying, you said-" I coughed awkwardly and looked up at his face."Well, that makes it easier." He muttered.
"What easier?"
Without a moments hesitation his lips descended upon mine, causing sparks to erupt and dance along my skin.
My eyelids fluttered shut and all I could think about was how I never wanted this to end.But sadly, as they saying goes 'all good things must come to an end', Sebastian stepped out of the cave with an amused expression and gestured for his son to follow him inside.
"I'll be waiting Damian." I smiled softly, replaying the unexpected gesture of affection in my mind as he followed after his dad.~~~~
*Damian's POV*
(Yay Damian's POV!)
*shortly after the thing happens and he's back in the castle in the other world. AKA the spot he died*I groaned as my head pounded and noise penetrated my sleepy state. I wasn't sure where I was or what happened but I knew I wanted to sleep this headache off.
A loud, piercing scream resonated around the room I was in and shook me to my core -figuratively of course. I scrambled up and looked around to find an older woman staring at me in shock."What?" I mumbled, confused. She stared at me in silence so I gladly took this time to study my surroundings. I recognized it in seconds, it was the kings throne room. My lips dipped into a frown and my eyes wandered back to the elderly lady.
"We carried your body away months ago!" She screamed, a look of pure terror spread on her face.
"What!?" I pinched my arm to make sure I wasn't dreaming.Ouch, nope not dreaming.
"Can you tell me what happened? All I really remember is coming here with my friends." I practically begged, hoping and praying Astrid wasn't hurt.
The lady nodded and escorted me to the gardens where she explained what she knew about the day my friends and I had attacked.A/N so I made a miscalculation LOL so I have no idea exactly how many chapters are left, I realized as I was wrapping this one up that there's something very important I haven't reveal yet and now I gotta make at least one more chapter before the epilogue -maybe two idk yet. Anywhoooooo enjoy!
