*Astrid's POV*
Tonight is the night. I'm going to tell my family what I've been hiding for almost a month now. I quickly changed into a loose grey t-shirt, black leggings, and a jean jacket before slipping into my shoes, grabbing my bag and sunglasses, and jogging to the front door.

I stepped outside into the crisp, cold Alaskan air and got in the car with my mom and Darius before we made our way to the store.
We sang and laughed the whole way there, hopped out, and walked inside side by side, going over plans for the pack.

"I wanted to surprise your dad with something for his birthday, but the question is, what?" mom asked, pushing the cart towards the meats.
"I mean, he really likes your paintings." I pointed out, grabbing a few steaks.
"That's what I usually get him, I want it to be special."
I hummed softly in thought, watching Darius slide away for a moment out of the corner of my eye.

"What about a dog? You never got him one of those." I grinned, following her as she led the way to the chips.
"Not a bad idea, I think he'd like it better if it were a rescue or something." she agreed, grabbing Doritos and corn chips for chips and salsa.
"So we'll head to the adoption center right after we finish up here."
"Where did your brother go?" mom sighed, glancing behind us.

"Walked away a little bit ago, c'mon." I led her in the direction I saw Darius go and nearly choked on my own saliva as I saw him hugging some strange girl.

*Darius' POV*
"Why are you following me around? What if my mom spots us?" I squinted at Divine and shook my head.
"I'm sorry I wanna see you." she rolled her eyes.
I sighed softly and glanced back to see if my mom or sister were coming.

"I know, I just don't want them to find out yet. It's complicated."
"I know, but do we seriously have to keep this a secret?"
"You haven't met my mom, she can be... Psychotic. And my sister is overprotective sometimes."
"Maybe we can schedule something so I can meet them."

"Ok, we can go over days that would be good another time, for now though, I should go before I get caught." I reluctantly agreed.
"Thanks." I smiled softly and pulled her into a hug before a strangled choking sound occurred behind me.
I spun around to find Astrid and mom starting at Divine and I, with similar shocked expressions dancing on their faces.

"Uh, hey mom." I mumbled awkwardly.
"Darius." mom practically growled, staring at Divine with an unrecognizable glint in her eyes.
"I know how this looks, but it's not what you think." I tried to defend myself from the punishment I could feel coming.

"Excuse me, I know I don't technically have a say in any of this and all, but, it's his life to do what he wants with, plus, the way I hear it, you let her have a boyfriend and you were totally fine with them living with each other, not knowing what they could be doing. So either you punish her for living with a boy without actual adult supervision, or you let Darius live his life the way he wants to." Divine interrupted, clearly irritated.
Mom stared at her for a moment, seemingly lost in thought, while Astrid came over with the deepest, scariest glare I'd ever seen.

"You hurt him, I will personally rip your head from your shoulders and throw it in a pile of manure." my sister threatened, her eyes a furious emerald green as she pointed at Divine, who simply rolled her eyes.
"I have no intention of hurting your brother, MY brother, on the other hand, I make no promises for." I gulped audibly and rubbed my throat.

"Personally, I like her mom." Astrid shrugged, grinning, her mood doing a 180.
Mom blinked and sighed heavily, the alpha blood in her telling her to keep pushing the issue.
"I guess we'll see how it pans out for now."
