~~~A farmer named Joe P.O.V.~~~
I drive in my truck down the road to Jamanakai Village. The back of my truck is full of sweet smelling yellow hay. Turning my head I look out my window I see a girl passed out in the sand. Stopping the truck I get out and place a hand on her forehead. She is burning hot and her breathing is coming in short gasps, red gashes lace her body. “Poor little filly an’t know what hit her.” I murmur. Picking her up I place her in the passenger seat. Then I speed down to the hospital.
On my way I call the hospital so when I get there nurses and doctors take her away. I am asked tons of questions like, “What’s her name? How old is she? Where does she live? Do you know her? How did she get hurt?” and so on. Finally I leave continuing to the market.
~~~Nurse P.O.V.~~~
I enter room 307. Placing a glass of water on the night stand by the strange girl’s bed, I check the monitors. Her heart beats faintly but she’s alive and responding well to the medicine she was given. Her quiver, bow, and sword have been confiscated. Bandages cover her wounds and the room is mostly dark, the blinds are drawn over the window stopping the sun from entering the room.
I look at the girl. “Who could do this to you?” I whisper to her.
Almost as if on cue she opens her eyes. But only just a little. “Shadow.” She crocks.
“Do you have family?” I kneel by the bed. She nods slowly and gasps in pain. Softly I ask, “Where does your family live?”
“B-bou-nty.” She stutters.
“Who is in your family?” I ask calmly.
“The white n-ninja.” She replies then falls asleep.
This girl must be crazy, but I leave the room and go down to the reception desk. “Hi Jane, I need to borrow the phone for a sec.” Jane nods and hands me the phone. “Do you know the number for the bounty?” I ask her.
“I think it’s in the computer system. Why?” Jane opens some files on the computer.
“The girl in room 307 says that she is related to the white ninja.” I say looking at the number on the computer screen and dialing.
“You mean the nindroid?” Jane softly laughs.
I nod as someone picks up on the other end. “Hello, Destiny's Bounty. How my I help?”
“Hello, I’m calling from the Jamanakai Village hospital. We have a patient here saying that she is related to the white ninja.”
“Yes that’s true, Zane has a sister. But she is on the bounty at the moment. What does the girl look like?”
“She has long brown hair, brown eyes, but her clothes were basically rags so we don’t know what she was wearing.”
“Did she have any weapons?”
“Yes. A bow, sword, and quiver.”
“We well come by and see if it is Zane’s sister.” The voice says then hangs up. I put the phone down and go off to my work.
~~~Cole P.O.V.~~~
I put down the phone and pick up the loud speaker. Just about to speak I hear shouting on the main deck. Putting the loudspeaker back I open the door and find Lucy and Leray screaming at each other. “Hey, hey stop it you two! What’s wrong!”
Lucy whirls around to face me. “She is a shadow woman!”
“Lucy?! You know that isn't true.” Leray begs Lucy.
Lucy clenches her hands into fists, “What I know is that I you are a shadow woman poser!"
“Lucy. When did you start telling lies?” Leray says dangerously low.
Light magic sparks fly around Lucy. “Come on let’s just go get a smoothie and settle matters calmly.” I say stepping forward.
“NO!” They shout at the same time, still glowering at each other.
“Lucy be a good girl and drop this silly topic or go to your room!” Leray hisses through clenched teeth. Black goo bubbles and drips from her fingertips.
Sensei, Kai, Zane, Lloyd, Nya, and Jay gather at the door. Jay, Kai, Lloyd, and Nya step forward seeing that this could get really ugly really fast, but Sensei and Zane stop them. “This is their fight.” Sensei says.
“Fine. But only if you can tell me what the wind is saying.” Lucy says coldly. She crosses her arms waiting for Leray’s reply.
“The wind has no voice. It is just a stupid and annoying thing that is only good for moving breathable air in and non-breathable air out.” Leray waves her hand in a dismissing motion, sending the black goo flying.
Lucy’s eyes widen then narrow. “You made the wind angry.”
“The wind has no feelin-” Leray stops mid sentence and falls to her knees clawing at her throat. I glance at Lloyd; he just crosses his arms and leans against the wall, his expression unreadable. Leray gasps and chokes as she tries to breath. I race over to her. Halfway to her there is an explosion of energy, knocking me off my feet.
I get up and stumble backwards. A shadowy lump is in Leray’s place. It stands up and seems to brush itself off. The thing is see through, but looking through it is like looking through fog, only the fog is a blackish-gray and shaped like a woman. It has no shadow, it is a shadow.
It screeches and runs, more like glides, over to Lucy taking her by the throat. “NO!” Lloyd shouts. Pushing himself off the wall he rushes to Lucy’s aid. But only to hit an invisible wall, he shakes his head and steps backwards running his hand over the smooth surface. He grumbles then rams his shoulder into it. Nothing happens.
I look back at Lucy and the shadow. Lucy whimpers, her face turning blue. Then everything seems to happen in slow motion…
