The bounty lowers through the clouds. Frantically I scan the deck railing to see Lucy leaning over looking for me, willing for it not to be true that she was taken. Tears slide down my cheeks. Sitting on the ground I lean against a tree and wrap my arms around my knees. Resting my head in my arms, I cry.
I lost her. Lucy. I really do feel like I am falling apart.
Soon I hear footsteps and someone calling my name. I look up and see the ninjas coming toward me. I take of my hood-mask, it is damp from my tears. “You’re alive!” Zane says and he pulls me to my feet.
Jay gasps, “How? You were falling so fast.”
I choke on my words, “The trees saved me.”
“You found your element, what is it?” Kai asks.
“Not now Kai, let’s get back to the bounty.” Cole says.
We start off through the trees. I can hear the forest hum with life and sorrow. We come to the edge of the forest and climb onto the bounty. “Your element, you found it. What is it?” Sensei asks me leaning on his staff.
“The forest. I am the ninja of the forest.” I say leaning on the railing.
“You got a new bow and arrows.” Nya says.
“May I?” Sensei asks me reaching out his hand. I nod handing him my gold bow and an arrow. “Golden.” He muses. Then he looks up. “This makes me think of the four golden weapons you four lost.”
“Hey! We didn’t lose them. They were stolen.” Kai says flatly.
Sensei shakes his head and sighs. “All the same.”
“Well I know how to get them back.” I say. They all turn to me. I pause, anticipation hanging in the air. “A quest. You four must go on a quest to the place where the four golden weapons were once hidden.”
“But what will happen to the weapons we have now?” Cole asks taking his sword from its holder on his back. The gold hilt glitters in the sun as the fluorescent blade shoots out of the hilt. Kai, Jay, and Zane take their swords out as well.
“Time will tell.” I say.
“Well they get the four golden weapons back?” Sensei asks handing back my bow and the arrow. I nod and he turns to Kai, Cole, Jay, and Zane. “The four golden weapons are more powerful than the ones you got at the temple of light, you must get them back.”
“Then we well go.” Zane says with determination.
“I have one more piece of information.” I say they turn to me. “Do not be afraid of your element. It cannot hurt you it can only strengthen you.” They nod and depart for their quest.
