Sorry guy’s. I swear that I posted chapter 17, 3 weeks ago. But I guess I didn’t -_- So any ways, after I posted chapter 17 I had to go to school, then I “lost” my flash drive and wasn’t able to post till now. So enjoy.

"Do we go together or as one?" Jay asks as he kicks a small rock.

"As one." Zane says.

"So we need to go to where we had found the golden weapons. Then what?" Cole asks the one question that had been on all of our minds.

"I believe we follow our heart." Zane says and with that he heads toward the icy mountains.

"What am I going to do?" I ask and Jay and Cole turn to me.

"You go to the fire temple, I go to the caves, Jay goes to the lightning tower, and Zane goes to the ice temple." Cole says.

"But there is no more fire temple." I say.

"Oh. Right, it was blown up." Jay remembers.

"And the caves collapsed but I am still going." Cole says over his shoulder as he walks off.

"Wish you luck." I mutter as we go our own ways on our quests.

I walk through small towns and hitch hick when I can on the back or top of trucks. Soon the land scape changes and the trees grow taller with the leafy branches at the top and bare branches on the trunk. As the sun sets I clime a tree and lay on a branch staring at the stars as they twinkle to life. Soon I drift off to sleep.

A hot wind wakes me and I cough. The air smells of sulfur. I must be getting close, the temple of fire isn't far away. From here I travel by the trees, hopping from branch to branch. I land on a branch and lean against the tree trunk thinking back to the very first quest Jay, Cole, Zane, and I went on. Smiling I continue and as the day goes by the air gets hotter and hotter.

Soon I can see the top of the volcano, the trees start to get blacker and have less leafs. I walk on the ground after a blackened branch breaks after I landed on it. The ground is hot and the wind burns my throat. Embers start to fly around me and I pull on my hood-mask so the embers don’t burn my face.

The trees break away and the volcano looms in front of me. It has half way collapsed and trails of lava trickle or gush down the sides. The charred remains of the fire temple cling to the volcano’s rocky side, about to fall into the lava moat at any moment. Even the arch that used to stand at the beginning of the bridge is chard with only the legs remaining. As I walk onto the bridge one of the arch’s legs falls and stones from the bridge fall into the lava moat below me.

I cross the bridge and stop in the middle of the fire temple remains. The original temple floor is now covered with hardened lava with planks of fried wood poking out. “Now what?” I ask myself.

“Now you climb the boiling mountain, leap and let the flames claim you…” A silky voice answers.

I grab my sword and whip around. The blade extends and I swing it at the voice. My sword clatters to the ground when I see who it is. A small girl made from flickering light now stands in front of me. Her hands are clasped together and flames lick at the bottom of her dark red dress. Feathery flames dance around her head for hair and her gold eyes watch me.

“Who are you?” I ask her picking up my sword.

“Prophecy…” She says and then begins to fade. In a slow melodic voice she repeats, “Now you clime the boiling mountain, leap and let the flames claim you…” Then she fades out of sight.

The sword blade retracts into the hilt and I place it on the holder on my back. I clime the volcano dodging lava and chunks of rock that tumbled down the side. Reaching the top I stop to catch my breath. The top is a flaming pit, the flames leaping high into the sky and dancing, reaching for me. Standing on the edge I ponder on my options. Jump into the flames would hurt and possibly kill me. Not jumping I stay safe and will live. Either way I won’t get back the golden sword of fire.

I think back to what Leray had said to us before we left, “Do not be afraid of your element. It cannot hurt you it can only strengthen you.” Closing my eyes shut tight, I jump into the flames. They swirl around me and I wait for searing pain as the fire burns me.

Nothing. I don’t feel pain. A new kind of power surges through me. It is wild and dangerous, hot and burning, like it is never going to die. The flames rap around me and I close my fingers around a cold metal hilt in my right hand. The flames die down and I am left standing on a perfectly still volcano.

All lava, except for the lava moat, has hardened and all flames have flickered out. I look at the sword in my right hand. It is the gold sword of fire. It has flames engraved in the blade and the hilt is shaped like a dragons head with a ruby for the eye.

My ninja suit has changed. It is red again but now has flames outlined in gold tread. “All right, let’s see if this still works.” I say.

Running my left hand across the gold blade the sword lights on fire and as my hand leave the tip of the sword there is a flash of light then I am sitting on my fire motorcycle. I press on the handle bar and the motor roars to life.

Time to go home. I speed down the volcano side and across the bridge. More stones fall of the bridge and splash into the lave moat. At the edge of the trees I stop and look over my shoulder at the lone volcano, surrounded by a moat of lava and standing in a field of trees.

Turning back to the trees I zip forward with flames dancing off the side and gas pip of my fire motorcycle. Time to get back to the bounty.
