I drop to my knees and grasp Lucy tightly in my arms tears sliding down both of our cheeks. “I want to go home.” Lucy wails.

“We will, we will. I’ll never leave you again.” I stroke her gold-blond hair.

Slow clapping echoes off the black walls. We turn around. A man steps out of the shadows, he has pale skin with patches of black scales, and a long black robe hangs from him like a sack. He is smiling wickedly showing long sharp needle like teeth, his hair is black and stringy. His eyes are like a cat’s, yellow then green around the pupil. A long black scaled tail slithers over the floor and ratty wings hanging limply from his back.

“I see my the daughter of light has found the filthy ninja.” He drawls. Lucy gasps and I stiffen. “I saw you die.” His eyes narrow into slits. “How did you live?” I stare dumbly at him. The Over Lord.

Lloyd steps in front of Lucy and I, blocking us from the Over Lord’s evil gaze. “I could ask you the same question.” Lloyd grabs his weapon and plunges it into the Over Lord’s heart.

At the same time Lucy crumples over in pain in my arms. Fresh tears of pain sliding down her cheeks. “Lloyd stop! You hurt him you hurt Lucy!” I call to him.

Lloyd looks over his shoulder and backs up dropping his weapon. The Over Lord wheezes, “You fool. Kill me, you kill the girl…”

Lloyd takes a step back and lets go of his weapon. "No." He whispers.

"Lucy, use your magic, heal yourself." I say rather calmly as tears spill from my eyes.

Lucy nods slowly and gasps, "Resha-mew oonay say-qu."

Fresh tears spill down my cheeks. Those were not the words of healing. It is a detachment spell.

"I don't know what that means but it doesn't sound good." Jay says.

Lucy's dark green eyes fad to a silvery gray and her golden hair streaks to silver. Her skin grows pale like a sheet and her breathing quickens to gasps. She trembles with cold.

Zane kneels down placing his hand on her head. He looks up at me, though his ice blue eyes look calm, sorrow hangs in the air. "I sense that her light leaving her."

"That means the Over Lord is no longer part of the shadows." Cole says looking away from Lucy and at the Over Lord.

"What do we do now? Kill him?" Kai asks.

I shake my head. "No, if he survives then he will become human. If he is stuck here then the shadow men will kill him. If he is in Ninjago, then he will be no threat to us."

I scoop Lucy up and stand. “We need to get out of here.”

I lead the way out through the winding twists and turning corridors and tunnels. We are close to the exit when we are confronted by shadow men. Unable to use my bow because I can only use one hand, I fish a sword out of the pouch on my belt.

A shadow woman runs up to me. Holding Lucy with one arm I fight the shadow woman with my other. The duel passes in a blur. Then my sword is knocked aside. The shadow woman lowers her sword to make a killing blow to Lucy. At the last second I turn, shuilding Lucy from the deadly blade.

Pain wrenches through me. I stagger and fall. Then Lucy wakes up. “Leray?” She whispers sitting up.

“Lucy...” I gasp tucking a strand of her silvery hair behind her ear.

She looks around. “NO! NO MORE! YOU WILL NOT HURT ANYONE ANY MORE!” She shouts. Then she starts to glow. I close my eyes. And then it is over. Lucy ends it. She seals the void and all of it’s inhabitants inside. It’s over. I think, then I pass out.
