Lost Love

Chapter 17

We have our second match against USA in two days, which I've never left more ready for. Scoring my first England goal on my first cap gave me a lot more confidence. Doing it with Leah by my side made it all so much better. Since making it official, me and Leah have never been better. The girls let us have our alone time at camp, they understand how it is. All the girls are so good, we've all gotten on so well.

We just finished dinner and some of us are in the games room. Leah and Jill are playing ping pong, Keira and Lucy are playing fifa and Lauren, Chloe and Ellen were sitting talking. Well we were more laughing at Jill. Keira and Lucy were getting weirdly close. There wasn't anything wrong with it but your best friend and your cheating ex flirting does make me feel uncomfortable. I tried to ignore it, which I think Chloe picked up. We walked outside a bench in the garden to have a chat.

"You okay Holl? It's not like you to be this quiet?"

I looked down at my feet, knowing this would make me emotional.

"It's just weird that Keira and Lucy are getting that close. Like she's my best friend, and she's my cheating ex. I thought Keira would've told me if they were."

Chloe looked at me, with a sad look on her face.

"I know, Im even finding it weird. I don't really understand it but don't let it make you overthink. Im sure there's not even too much behind it."

"It's just hard not to over think Chlo."

Chloe grabbed my hand and gave it a tight squeeze.

"How about we talk to Keira tomorrow? I'll be there but I don't have to say anything."

"Thank you Chlo, it means a lot to me."

We exchanged a tight, long hug before walking back inside. Leah was waiting for me inside.

"Are you okay Hol?"

I just looked at Leah, indicating that I'll tell her later. She understood. We walked into the games room to find the rest of the girls. Everyone was laughing and chatting. I walked over and sat beside Jill and Ellen. They were always the funniest on camp, always providing the giggles.

"What are yous laughing about now?"
I said, laughing at the both of them.

"Jill was talking about the ideas for her podcast. I don't even think they're PG enough for the BBC."

"I think they're good! Not your normal podcast which everyone wants."

"Jill nobody wants that though."
I said, completely drowning in laughter.

Out of the corner of my eye, I see Lucy getting all touchy over Keira. Ellen saw me looking and quickly distracted me, just like Chloe did.

"Jill don't you think Holl would be great on your podcast? She'd give you a good few laughs."

"Holly would you think about that idea? You would be perfect on the podcast."

I looked at both of them, smiling.

"Of course I would. The podcast does need someone with a good sense of humour."

Jill gave me a small nudge before speaking.

"What that missy! We know I've the best sense of humour."

"Whatever you say Jilly."

I spoke before walking away to find Leah. I needed to speak to her about Keira and Lucy. Like right now. On my way to find her, I was stopped by Keira. I completely brushed her off. I can't see her right now. I just was not ready. I need Chloe there with me for it.
