"Hold on. Back the fuck up. Who is Jenny, and why does your brother think you're still dating her?" Malina raises an eyebrow. "Calm down. Let me explain before you get the wrong idea." Celeste puts their hands in the air. Malina crossed their arms and stared. "Jenny was my high school sweetheart. We started dating in 9th grade, stupid I know. The relationship lasted until I was seventeen, so until we were seniors. Everything was always so nice between, she cared about me and I cared about her, at least that's what I thought. We were living together and I remember we got into a huge fight, I don't know what it was about though. It got really heated and she had h-hit me." Celeste's voice cracked around the last bit and took a sip of water. Malina uncrossed their arms and leaned onto the counter, grabbing onto Celeste's hand. "Uh, she hit me. And when I tried to leave, she cut me with a knife on my stomach. Then I grabbed my bags and left." Celeste fans their eyes.

"I'm sorry. But I have to ask, why did you never tell your brother you stopped dating her?" Malina asks. "He moved out when I was sixteen and cut contact. I didn't know his address so I couldn't send a letter or anything." Celeste spoke. "May I see the cut? I-if that's okay." Malina heistants. "Sure." Celeste shrugged. Malina walked around the counter and squatted next to the barstool that Celeste was sitting on. Celeste lifted their nightgown to reveal a long cut across their stomach

"D-" Malina cut themself off and cleared their throat. "Damn" is probably not the most nice way to react. "Does it ever hurt?" "No. I would be shocked if it did since it happened so long ago." Celeste answered. "Why is it a gray-ish purple color?" Malina asked, pulling Celeste's nightgown back down. They put their back up against the counter and used their hands to hold them up. Celeste let out a big sigh. She's going to have to know eventually. "While it was still healing I smoked more than I did before the injury."

"You smoked?" Malina says shocked. Celeste nods. Malina turned to the side and sat on the edge of Celeste's lap, trying to process the information they just learned. "Is that a problem at all?" Celeste asks hesitantly, adjusting Malina fully on their lap. What? Other than the fact my mother blew cigarette smoke in my face so now I can't be next to people who smoke? Nope. Malina thought, but just answered "No." Celeste scanned Malina's face and felt something was wrong. "I only smoke when I'm frustrated, which luckily hasn't been recently. If for any reason, I smoke, I won't do it in front of you." Celeste grabs Malina's chin, making them face Celeste.

"Thank you." Malina whispered, putting their forehead against Celestes. Before she could give them a kiss, the doorbell rang.

"They're here." Celeste says.
