"

Klee, you're doing subtraction right now. Remember the finger method for addition?"

"But it's all the just the same!"

She whined and threw her pencil away, crossing her arms and pouting. Albedo had asked you to study her for a little while he did his work since you were free. Not minding his request, you accepted and found yourself in his office with a paper maths problems with sunsettias and dodoccos, to spark Klee's interest in maths, not her fondest subject.

Alas, it was going downhill. You had a good relationship with Klee, but you weren't good with kids overall. Nevermind teaching someone else, you couldn't even teach yourself something simple without a person's help.
But you were good in maths, being familiar in the fields of alchemy do you tried your hand again.

"Addition is giving more to something. Like you have 5 sunsettias and then I go on an expedition and give you 3 more. How many would have then?"

"Um...a lot!" Her voice with excitement at the thought of sweet sunsettias.

"What about the exact amount? Because you just say a lot, you'll never know how much you actually have." You tried to explain calmly without flipping off at her from frustration.

"Why would I need an exact amount? That seems very...um..." She was at a loss of words.

"Unnecessary? Let me tell you why isn't unnecessary. What happens if Albedo, your mommy and I want 2 sunsettias each? If you don't know that exact amount then we might have equal sunsettias, then we will all be sad."

"I don't want us to be sad...I'll get us more sunsettias if we run out!"

You chuckled to release the stress. She had a good heart, it was impossible for you to be mad at her.
"And what we already do have enough? It'll be tiring to get more if we already had enough."

"Oh...This is so confusing!" She finally cried out again, sinking into her a chair and on the verge of tears.

You wiped a tears which rolled down her cheek, crouching in front of her, "A lot of things in this world are confusing. Everything is in fact. But it's our job to be able to understand them," you cooed gently, pinching her cheeks and patting her, "Look at Albedo. He's really smart, right? That's because he manages to understand all the confusing stuff. You want to be like Albedo right?"

She nodded excitedly, her childishness coming back, "Exactly like him! And you too, you're really smart too!"

You blushed at her comment. Kids have a thing for complimenting adults, "Not as smart as your brother, he's much better than me in all ways."

"Oh~?" A familiar voice, "Is that how you think of yourself?"

"Big brother Albedo! You're back!"
Klee jumped into his arms while you stayed crouching, smiling at him.

"I mean, it is the truth."

He chuckles, putting Klee down as she runs out the office, not wanting to spend another minute studying.

"Well," he does a dramatic thinking pose, "You're more social than me."

"That debate is not up to you."

He laughs again. It's nice hearing his laugh when he's just with you, "I made something for you by the way."

"What is it?"
You tried to hide the childishness in your voice, but he spotted it easily.

"A painting. There was a wonderful scenery a few meters from my lab and I immediately thought of you, so here you are."

He hands you a painting, paint still a bit sticky. But it didn't stop you admiring his work. It always amazes you on how well he can make you from memory and can make a masterpiece in no time.

"Thank you Albedo, I really do appreciate it."

You pecked his lips and fixed his messy hair. His face showed a little colour, a tint of red that went along with his every feature. He intertwined your hands with his his after you put the painting down.

"Eww, they're being gross again Mommy!"

"No, they're not sweetheart, it's called love."

Klee's and Alice's voice took you both out of your trance of silently admiring each other. Your face became a a flustered red realising they were watching you for some time now.

"Alice! You can't just sneak up on us like that with Klee!" Albedo scolds her, also clearly flustered.

"Sorry dear! We'll be at Good hunters. Don't get carried away too much!"

"Alice!" You both called out her name.

She and Klee giggled as their footsteps faded from the marble, you closed your door and started laughing, Albedo soon joining you.
