WARNINGS: . . . . . •───────•°•❀•°•───────•
Solving case after case was tiring, obviously. And there was nothing that Heizou would have wanted more than to be under his blankets, chatting away with you about how your day has been.
He sluggishly pushes the door open, pressing his cheek against the wood while looking around your shared home. No sign of you yet. A wave of disappointment washes over him when he sees you weren't in the bedroom either. You had promised before you left for work that you would be back no later than seven, you were always home before that time anyway. It was almost worrying, seeing how you didn't leave a note either.
But his concerns faded when he heard the sound of similar footsteps and the bedroom door sliding open. A warm smile on your lips is the first thing he notices, then the blanket over your head like a good and wrapped around your body, and what seemed like a pillow or two stuffed inside.
"What's happening?" Curiosity getting the best of him, "Is it because I hog the blanket at night?" amusement laced in his voice.
"Well," you wore a grin which meant you had a surprise ready for him, "It's been a while since we've on a date because of your work. So I thought about star gazing?"
You didn't even wait for him to answer the last part as you walked backwards through the door, poking and arm out and waving to him to follow you. It was as if his exhaustion faded away at the idea. Besides, even if he was tired, he wouldn't be able to say no to you wobbling like a penguin. "Alright then,"
He helps you with carrying the pillows as you lead him outside and walking a few metres before reaching a clearing near your house where the stars were clearer than diamonds. You settled the pillows and blankets in a comfortable position, pulling Heizou down with you as he slips an arm around your shoulder before your head hit the pillow.
This was better than sleeping.
A comfortable silence took over, shuffling around every once in a while. It was incredibly peaceful, just the break he needed from all the things he faces in his job. As much as he liked to show you off, moments like these were Heizou's favourite.
"Turn around, I'll take your hair out for you."
He did as you told him too, his back facing you while you took the hairband out, putting it on your wrist and combing through his hair with your fingers. He let out a small groan, leaning further into the pillow while looking at the stars.
Heizou takes a mental note to do something similar to this once, maybe taking to a shore at night and walking along the beach as waves crash into your feet. He could surprise you next time when you have a long day, but for now, he was happy with was happening.
"I had read about the constellations in a book by the Akademiya itself," you say as he faced you again.
"Really?"
"Yup, since at the time I couldn't travel outside of Inazuma to attend the Akademiya," He remember you told him at the beginning of your relationship, that you wanted to do a course on astronomy in the Akademiya if ever given the chance.
"Well, the Sakoku Decree is over now, you could send in an application and I bet you would get in with ease." He suggests, looking at you make out constellations with your fingers.
You hummed in consideration, getting up and stretching a bit, "I could, but there is a downside to that."
"Which is?"
"I would have to leave you for a few years." A warm smile on your face.
He had thought about it many nights. That if you did go, he would be separated from you for many years. He couldn't Inazuma to join you in Sumeru, since he still had his work. It pained his heart to think about it, yet at the same time, he couldn't just hold you back from achieving your dreams. It would have been wrong.
"I wouldn't mind, I'd come visit you a few times a year."
You laughed a little and kissed his nose, "Aww, you're so sweet. The reason why I can't leave you."
"What can I say, I'm just a cutie." He joked around with you.
"That you are."
You laid your head back down, bringing your body closer to him and pulling the blanket over him as well. He places a chaste kiss on your cheek, grabbing your hand and interlocking your fingers with his as he holds it up to the moon, kissing your knuckles next.
"You know exactly what I need." He turns his head to you.
You giggled, "Maybe I'm the detective then, hm?"
You bring your head on his chest, looking into his eyes and pushing a lock of his aside. Despite how chaotic his life can be, he couldn't be more satisfied with his life when he laying with you like this, having nothing to worry about and forgetting all his cases. It was times like this where he was ready to leave his job and travel anywhere you would go, regardless of anything at all.
"Are you really though? You couldn't even find your sock."
"Okay that wasn't my fault," you were quick to get defensive as he teased you, getting up from his chest, "You're the one who was careless with the laundry."
He chuckled, pulling you back to his chest and placing another kiss on your forehead.
This was definitely labelled as one of his favourite nights. •───────•°•❀•°•───────• . . .
