Ever since Daniel's beating on Scotty, Scotty has kept his distance.

He glares at Daniel from afar while the two are working and Daniel doesn't pay him any mind. He pretends he isn't there.

Scotty had to walk past a car Daniel was working on in order to get to his bottle of water and when he did, he took the nearest and sharpest object he could before forcing it into the car's tire.
Daniel looked.
"Woah, sorry, man. Hand slipped. You might wanna change that before the customer gets back." Scotty lied and mocked.
He attempted to walk off but Daniel grabbed him by his shirt and slung him against the far wall.

It caught their coworkers' attentions.

Daniel just stared menacingly into Scotty's eyes.

"Dan, let him go, man." Paul instructed.
Daniel and Scotty held their staring contest.
But Daniel eventually let Scotty go and walked off to prepare to fix the tire.

"If I would'a known you were a nigger lover, I wouldn't have been your friend! You know how hard I stood tryin' to scrub that shit off of me?! I was in the shower for hours!" Scotty complained.
Daniel took a deep breath, then went into his pocket and pulled out his carton of cigarettes and new lighter.
He placed one stick between his lips then the box back into his pocket. His hand blocked the cigarette from any incoming wind as he lit the end.

"You're fuckin' disgusting, Dan Ross." Scotty scoffed. "Maybe I should'a killed that black bitch just to turn you around. Fuckin' sicko."
Daniel turned around and looked at Scotty.
He removed his cigarette from his lips and exhaled the smoke.

"Her name is Annie." he stated. His empty hand hung by his side and cracked his knuckles with the use of its thumb.
"Annie, Nigger, same thing." Scotty snickered along with a few of their coworkers.
"Goddamnit." Daniel sighed.
"There a problem?" Scotty asked.
Daniel took another puff of his cigarette then exhaled. "I'm about to get fired."

His cigarette laid between his lips again before he sent a fast right hook into the side of Scotty's face.

Stephen slammed through the house and Daniel walked in nonchalantly behind him.

"GODDAMNIT!" Stephen shouted.
Daniel just stared at him with his hands in his pockets.
Stephen looked at his son. "Do you have anything to say for yourself?!"
"What's for dinner?"
Stephen scoffed.

He paced and rubbed down his face in stress. Only before his palm swung into Daniel's face.

Stephen stood there huffing while Daniel just stared at the floor.
"That boy has to be hospitalized. Do you have any idea what you've done? YOU HAD THE COPS CALLED ON YOU!" Stephen shouted.
Daniel rubbed his tongue on his aching gums. "I've never been less apologetic in my life."
Stephen's brows furrowed.

"Why'd you do it? Hm? Beating him the first time wasn't enough, you had to do it twice?"
"That's right."
"WHY?! You've been working with the boy since the incident without a problem, but today you lose your mind?!"

Daniel just stared at his father.

He knew that if he told him again that he got in another fight related to Annie his father would be fed up.

"HELLO?! ANSWER ME!" Stephen shouted. "DO YOU KNOW HOW THIS COULD AFFECT US! BECAUSE YOU DECIDED TO GO ON YOUR LITTLE RAMPAGE?!"
"He called Annie a nigger and me a nigger lover. I was already still mad about what he did to her that day. That was the icin' on the cake. Your term's almost over. I don't care. I'd do it again."

Stephen faced the floor and closed his eyes.

"God fucking damnit, Daniel." he huffed.
Daniel was unmoved.
"Now you're without a job and Scotty's parents are going to want to talk. Let's hope they don't bring us to court. I'll probably have to pay for the boy's hospital bills." Stephen sighed.
"Why?! Don't do that!" Daniel yelled.
"You kicked his ass and left him unconscious!"
"So?!"
"So contrary to what you believe, nobody else is going to care about your reasoning and it might even make it worse! So to keep you out of prison and us out of the bad side of the papers, I'm paying the boy's bills!"
"You pay his bill, and when he gets out, I'm gonna put him back in there."
"Daniel." Stephen sighed.
"No! Why am I the only one getting repercussions for this bullshit?! I'm sick of that asshole! He deserves to struggle to pay his hospital bills just as much as he deserved my foot in his face! Don't pay that bill. Because he'll think he won and do it all over again. And I'm serious when I say I will kill him. Do we have a deal?!"
Stephen took a deep breath. "Yes, son. We have a deal."
"Good. Now I am going to go shower! I'm gonna dress really fucking nice and smell good! Then I'm gonna go to my girlfriend's house and act like my day was completely fine and fucking normal, and so help me GOD if anyone gets in the way of that again I am going to lose my goddamn mind!" Daniel stated as he stormed off upstairs.

"What's this about a girlfriend?" his mother said as she exited her bedroom.
"I don't have a girlfriend, shut the fuck up, Nancy!" Daniel replied and slammed his bedroom door shut.
"DANIEL!" Stephen called.

Nancy looked at Stephen in utter shock and disbelief. Stephen just sighed and shook his head before entering the kitchen.

"Aren't you going to say anything to him?!" Nancy yelled.
"He's 23, dear. Most I can do is beg him not to kill you." Stephen replied and poured a cup of coffee.

"No, Daniel, don't kill your mother, then who would make everyone's life a living hell?" he murmured sarcastically before sipping. "Probably her mother." he groaned.
He found a seat at the kitchen table and just stared at the far wall and sipped.
