A month passed of Annie sneaking out of her home to sleep at Daniel's.
She pretended that she'd truly stopped talking to the boy and even moped around her house to sell it.
Diana really thought Annie was heartbroken but she believed it was for her own good. She didn't trust Daniel. Not after everything Nancy tried to insight in him.

But at the moment, while Diana was at work, Annie and Daniel were on her blanket in the lavender field. Daniel was laying back with one arm under his head and his eyes closed feeling the warm sun combined with the cool autumn breeze. Annie sat kneeling beside him and his wrist in her lap as she made a lavender bracelet around him while he rested.

"Are you done yet?" Daniel murmured.
"No, be patient."
Daniel groaned.
"It's kinda sad." Annie admitted.
"Sad how?"
"Well it's dead. It'll be a while before they grow back. I don't expect you to like havin' a dead flower bracelet."
"Well I wasn't gonna think about it like that anyway."
"Hm..."
"I'd just call it a bracelet my girlfriend made me. Dead or alive. Ain't bracelets inanimate? Don't even matter if it's dead. It was probably gonna die on my wrist anyway."
"I guess that's right."

She finished the final touches. "There."

Daniel opened one eye and looked at the bracelet. He then closed it and rested that hand on his stomach to continue trying to nap.

"Well?" Annie asked.
"It's nice."
"Just nice?"
"Well what do you want me to say? It's dead."
Annie gasped and shoved him while Daniel laughed.

"It's gettin' cold out here. Soon we'll have to find somewhere else to lay." Annie pointed out.
"You don't like the cold?"
"No. I prefer spring. Warm with a gentle breeze. Fall breeze is harsh and violent. I feel like I'm bein' slapped in the face with cold air. And winter is just all around cold. I don't like that at all."
"Hm..."
"Do you like the cold?"
"Hot chocolate." Daniel answered.
"Well yea, but I mean bein' outside."
"Yea. Harder to sweat when it's cold out. Makes the work less hard. Labor in the winter is nice. You start off cold but warm yourself up and cool yourself down when you get too hot. Because it's cold out. It's nice."
"Well I don't work. My daddy says I'm not allowed."
"I don't want you workin' anyway."
Annie looked at him.
Daniel continued resting with his eyes closed. "You gotta be inside, cooking. Cleaning. Taking care of the kids."
"Kids?!" Annie questioned.
Daniel looked at her. "You don't want kids?"
"No, I do. I just didn't know you wanted kids. Let alone with me."
"I want everything with you."

Annie laid down and rested her head on Daniel's chest.

"I say we have three. Two boys and a girl." she stated.
"That's fine."
"I want a big house."
"I'll get you a big house."
"And...I want yard space. Plenty of it. And I want a garden full of flowers. Different kinds. I'll even plant 'em myself."
Daniel snickered. "I think it's rude you didn't already know I'd get you a garden."
Annie smiled. "I'll plant every flower I can think of."
Daniel kissed her head.

"But I don't want any kids until marriage." she stated.
"But...by then what if it's too late?"
"I think we'll be alright. I have faith it'll all work out." She kissed his cheek. "Every plan we make will come true just like we wanted. Because we deserve it." She used her thumb to wipe her lipstick from his cheek. "Do you plan on stayin' here forever?" Annie asked.
"Where?"
"Mississippi."
"Well...I never really thought about it."
Annie sat up. "The...north states are much nicer. They ain't perfect but they ain't here neither. I bet they'll legalize everything before we do. Maybe...Maybe we can move up there."
"We move up north?" Daniel offered.
Annie nodded.
"Do you wanna move with me?"
She nodded again.
"How soon?"
She took a deep breath.
Daniel sat up and the two looked in each other's eyes. "Think hard because I'll do it right now, I promise. Make sure you want to. Tell me. How soon would you move with me?"
"As soon as we can."
He stared at her.

He pulled their faces together and kissed her lips. She, of course, kissed him back. He did it again, again, and again before getting up.

"Where are you goin'?" Annie asked.
"We need money. I'm gonna do some work. You give me just three to four months. I'll have it. We'll get out of here."
"Daniel, baby, you don't have to rush." Annie stated and looked at him as he threw on his jacket.
He looked back at her.
She gave him her hand and he pulled her up.
"It's okay. We can take our time. I'd still be with you."
"We can be better than just being with each other. We can take our time but I don't want to." He kissed her cheek. "You watch. I'm gonna get you the house, I promise. With all the land you need for hundreds of flowers." He held her face and kissed her lips again. "I mean it. Just give me three to four months."
Annie nodded reluctantly.
Daniel let her go then bent over and began wrapping up her blanket from off the ground. He stuffed it in her bag.

Annie watched and a part of her worried for a reason she didn't know. She hoped Daniel would be calm and rational through all of this. But she could tell by the look in his eye that he meant everything he said.
