Somewhat Human (Fullmetal Alchemist)

1: The Compact Alchemist

The cold wind bit at the group as they hopped from rooftop to rooftop, adrenaline pounding into their literal or figurative bones as they search for the Freezing Alchemist, it was a last minute assignment that caused quite the dent in their plans.

" Damnit, we're never gonna leave Central at this rate." Edward sifted his hand through his front bangs grumbling curses at the Colonel. They had plans to go to Liore and everything was prepared, they even the bought tickets. It's was definitely bad luck.

" But we already bought tickets to Liore, are we not going anymore?" Alphonse questioned even though he most likely knew the answer, the chance they'll make it in time was slim.

(Y/n) also knew this and not wanting money to be wasted suggested another option, " If not we can return the tickets until the train leaves, I'm just saying we could use that money at this store I saw on the way here." (Y/n) gestured behind the three of them with a perfect salesmen-like smile.

Edward rested his hand on his hip looking at (Y/n) with a raised eyebrow, a totally on brand thing for her to say, " We'll talk about shopping later we gotta focus." With that Edward dashes off, Alphonse following suit and gestured (Y/n) to hurry up, not wanting to fall behind (Y/n) runs after them.

They soon make it to an alleyway, sounds of crashing ice and water being heard from a distance. After further examination the sounds came from none other than the Freezing Alchemist with the lifeless bodies of soldiers on either side of him.

" Water freezes and boils, not like it will matter to you anymore." He spoke to the copses, and while he was somewhat distracted Edward uses his alchemy to have a spear fall onto the Freezing Alchemist, but he jumps out of the way just in time. Stunned at the sudden use of alchemy Edward makes himself known to him.

" How pathetic."

The Freezing Alchemist looks over to Edward's short stature, mentally commenting on it in his head, " A fellow alchemist? Well, you should know great deeds come with great sacrifices that's the law of Equivalent Exchange is it not?"

Edward rolls his eyes at the man, he was even more pathetic the he thought, " Shut it, the rules of alchemy don't justify murder!" And with a clap of his hands a metal bat appears with his face at the top of it, to add some character.

" No transmutation circle?!"

" Wipe the drool of your chin for me will ya!"

Alphonse appears from behind and strikes at the Freezing Alchemist but he swiftly doges. (Y/n) comes behind Alphonse and pulls a seed out of her fanny-pack, clapping her hands together and uses plant alchemy to create a vine of roses to wrap around his torso and swings him to Edward so he can have a clear shot with his bat.

Edward attempts to get a good swing but is stopped by the Freezing Alchemist grabbing his wrist, trying to destroy his arm but his efforts were fruitless as Edward's arm was completely fine, "What? No-I had you! The water in your arm should be boiled!"

" If it makes you feel better you ruined my coat." Edward flexes the fingers of his automail hand before throwing off his coat, the Freezing Alchemist gasps at the sight of his arm, connecting the dots of who the people in front of him are.

" An automail arm! A young and gifted alchemist who doesn't use transmutation circles, I know you you're the Fullmetal Alchemist Edward Elric!... So it's not you?" He points, Alphonse rubs the back of his head looking at (Y/n) who comes forward to explain on his behalf.

" Not at all, that's his younger brother Alphonse." The Freezing Alchemist looks at (Y/n) confused and she stifles back a laugh since she knew what he was going to say, " Him? But he's just a runt!"
