Eventually, after multiple trips Envy collected all the pieces of the mural, " So this is all from Xerxes?" Ling questions, shining his torch to get a better look, " Yeah." Edward replies, he takes a glance at (Y/n) and the look of understanding crosses her face, " It all comes full circle, literally." Edward smiles with a slight laugh, " It really does."

Looking back at the wall Ling waits for it to 'come full circle' but it doesn't, " So those really were the moon." Ling hears (Y/n) say, which only made him more confused, " We're not all scientific prodigies you know." He remarks, (Y/n) and Edward share a smug glance at each other before Edward explains in layman's terms.

" In short the wall is a circle for human transmutation, but this one's specific, the array is to give birth to a 'ordinary human.' That's when it hit me, what if you remake a living human with human transmutation. It's impossible to bring back the dead but, if I transmuted myself there's a high chance that Gluttony's fake Gates of Truth will open."

There's a moment of silence as the other's process Edward's plan, "So if the gates do open, do we just jump in?" Ling tries to clarify, Edward nods, "Basically." When Edward answers Ling's question another one takes it's place, "What of you mess up? The rebound could- I dunno kill you?" Edward turns his head and (Y/n) was right there.

It was a valid concern, one Edward had for himself but he couldn't let (Y/n) know that, " I did human transmutation once, I'm positive I can pull it off a second time." (Y/n)'s eye droops and she folds her arms, "That's not what I'm saying, you only get one chance to do this Ed, there's no second chance or shot at redemption. Who knows what's going to happen if you mess up."

Edward looked at (Y/n), there was no way work around the risk or at least minimize it, they both knew that, " Ed, your intuition and ingenuity has saved our lives multiple times, and I admire that about you but-" (Y/n) cuts herself off, unfolding her arms to pinch her nose and sigh exasperatedly, "There's no other way." Edward finishes.

"I know! But... I'm just worried." (Y/n)'s voice grew smaller, messing with her fingers and avoiding Edward's gaze, "(Y/n), look at me." It took a second but (Y/n) flickered her gaze to Edward, it wasn't intense or filled with determination, instead it was soft and genuine.

Taking a step closer to (Y/n), Edward places his hands on her shoulders, "I'll come back, I promise." He says seriously. (Y/n) let her hands fall to her sides, " You can't promise that." Edward smiled cheekily, " Watch me." (Y/n) shouldn't have let Edward's smile sway her opinion so quickly, but she never did stand a chance against his smile, not once.

Seeing that he got to her Edward's smile grows soft, "Besides how could I fail with such a good lab partner?" (Y/n) pushes him away and Edward chuckles, "Whatever, I'm still worried though." Edward gains his footing and stares at (Y/n) with a lopsided grin.

" W-h-i-p-p-e-d."

" What?"

"I said whippet."

" What the hell is a whippet?"

"Dog breed."

Ling rapidly nods and gestures to (Y/n), " See? She get's it." Edward looked at Ling suspiciously before Envy huffs, "We're getting off-topic." The atmosphere shifts and Edward starts to draw the details of the well, "Alright, I have a question for you then." Envy gave no response and Edward took it as a sign to continue.

"Back at Xerxes I saw a mural, wall, whatever you want to call it and look at all these symbols." Edward gestures to an array of symbols and goes into detail of what each of the meant.
