27: Unsolicited Sparring

Dinner was served and enjoyed by everyone who could, Izumi sends the three of them to a room where Edward sleeps off the food while Alphonse and (Y/n) jump from activity to activity the whole night. When the sun rises Edward yawns and asks the other two what they should do today.

" We could start that training we've been talking about." (Y/n) suggests, Edward tilts his head in agreement and that was going to be the plan for the day until Alphonse says they should check out the city library, " Oh yeah, I remember that place." Edward muses, (Y/n) looks at the brothers waiting for them to elaborate on Dublith Library.

Alphonse is the one to explain to (Y/n) while Edward goes to find his coat, " It's a library me and brother used to visit as kids, I'm thinking they may have added new books since last time we came so I want to check it out." (Y/n) hums and puts the chess book she was reading last night back into her suitcase, " Sounds like a plan."

The three of them walk to the kitchen where Izumi was frying eggs, " Good morning kids, sleep well?" Edward is the only one who could answer her question so he does with a quick affirmative hum and explains their plans for the day, " Alright, but come back before the streetlights turn on." They all nod and were about to make their way out the door but Izumi throws a spatula that hits Alphonse with a clang.

" Come back here and eat!" (Y/n) and Alphonse look at Edward who picks up the spatula and sighs, " Can you throw it between slices of bread or something?" Edward walks over to the kitchen and uses the spatula to knock down the bread from the top of the fridge and into his arms, " Fine just give me a moment." Izumi turns and starts cooking up a piece of ham.

They all watch Izumi skillfully scramble around the kitchen, and she seems to be done when she takes the bread from Edward and wraps up a ham and egg sandwich for him, " Here, make sure you eat it." Edward nods and says a quick thanks before looking back to Alphonse and (Y/n), signaling them that they can leave now.

Walking down the streets of Dublith was one of Alphonse's favorite things because of the abundance of strays, " Oh hello! You must like the smell of my brother's sandwich!" Alphonse speaks to the cat that was following closely behind Edward, the cat meows and Alphonse fawns over it while Edward eats his sandwich with a glare directed toward the cat.

(Y/n) noticed the glare Edward was giving the cat and stifled a laugh, " Eddie, you do know you're glaring at a cat over a sandwich right?" Edward snaps his head to (Y/n) wearing the same glare he was giving the cat, " I know!" He could have said more but the cat started to claw at Edward's coat.

"Hey-! You little shit! Let go!"

" Georgie stop! That's not nice!"

" You named the cat?"

Alphonse ignores (Y/n)'s question in favor of pulling Georgie off of Edward's coat, " Please let go Georgie." Alphonse's polite request wasn't heard by Georgie either out of pettiness or because of Edward's loud cursing. Alphonse eventually gets Georgie to let go but not in the way he had hoped.

In his effort to remove Georgie from Edward's coat, Georgie's claws ripped through the fabric, " Oh no- I'm sorry brother!" Edward points aggressively at Georgie, clearly upset he would have to go fix his coat later, " This is why I don't allow pets Al! They're little mean assholes!" (Y/n) folds her arms and looks at Edward, " You act like you don't share that quality with little Georgie here."

Edward slowly looks over to (Y/n) with a dark aura surrounding him, " What did you compare me to?" (Y/n) fights back a smile and doesn't back down, " A little. Mean. Asshole." Alphonse holds back his brother and deadpans at (Y/n), " Was that really necessary?" (Y/n) nods and leans down to get eye level with Georgie.
