41: The Last I Saw of You

Morning washed over Central and the three of them had no intentions of staying for breakfast, Edward was throwing on his red coat, and (Y/n) fastened her fanny-pack on. When they finished dressing they pack their luggage to transfer to the hotel when they get back, and once that was done they finally go into the living room to announce their departure.

Mostly everyone was in the living room as Gracia made breakfast in the kitchen, Winry looked up and saw the three of them dressed for the day, " Where are you guys going?" Now that Winry had pointed out their presence the rest of the household looks at them.

"Uhm- Well first off good morning, great to see you. Second, we have to head over to Central Command to deal with what Brosh came over for." (Y/n) answers, Gracia frowns and looks at Edward, " Shouldn't you at least stay for breakfast?" Edward shook his head, "We really can't, sorry." Gracia oh's and Alphonse looks around for Ling.

Ling would quickly show himself with Elicia on his shoulders, " Oh, are we going already?" Edward deadpans and folds his arms, "Yes, we are." Elicia looks at them puzzled, " Why are you leaving?" Ling takes Elicia off his shoulders at sets her on the floor, " We're on a mission!" Elicia had stars in her eyes as she looked at Ling.

" A secret mission?"

" A secret mission!''

" How secret is it?"

" Top Secret!''

Elicia ooo's and Ling crouches to her level with a finger to his lips, " So you must keep this from everyone." Elicia covers her mouth to maintain the secrecy, " Everyone?" Ling nods, " Everyone. Can you do it?" Elicia thinks for a moment before confidently nodding, " I'll make sure to keep the top-secret mission from everyone!"

While Elicia threw secrecy out the window Ling pats her head nonetheless, " Great! We'll be counting on you!" Elicia giggles and waves goodbye to the rest of the group, " Have fun on your top-secret mission!" Edward blinks dumbfounded at Ling's show while (Y/n) and Alphonse play along, " We will!"

The four of them, not including Ling's currently unseen guard, were about leave but Gracia stops them, "You kids should stay for breakfast, it's an important meal." There was an underlying sternness in her tone and none of them knew what to do, "Don't worry about us mom, I promise we'll stop somewhere along the way and get something quick." (Y/n) reasons.

The reason hit a cord in Gracia and her expression relaxes, "...Alright, you better." Neither (Y/n) nor anyone else knew why she agreed so quickly, but let's just say someone else always used the same excuse.

That aside they start to make their way to the door and Winry calls out to them, "I'll get the hotel for you guys before you come back!"

Edward throws his hand behind him as a type of wave and they all keep walking, "Thanks Winry." Alphonse closes the door behind them and the last Winry saw of them were their backs.

They had split with Ling and were now walking down the streets of Central waiting for the shoe to drop, " Gah! What have you done?! I can't run my shop anymore!" The three of them look over to the commotion and see a car rammed into the side of a shop, " I'm sorry! I'll pay for the damages!" The owner of the car spoke.

This was the moment they were waiting for, Edward and (Y/n) run up to the scene and dramatically pose, " State Alchemists Edward Elric and (Y/n) Hughes at your service!" Edward flamboyantly introduces, two men blink at their entrance but before they ask any questions Edward transmutes the car back to normal while (Y/n) does the shop.
