39: Lost in Translation

When they made it back to the house Edward made a phone call to Izumi and ask her if the child she transmuted was really her child. In Edward's opinion, it didn't end well, Izumi ending the phone call rather aggressively. Either way his and (Y/n)'s short 'break' in Resembool if you can call it that, was coming to a close and Edward wanted to visit Winry's parents before they leave.

Currently, they were at the gravesite and were paying respects to their graves, " Oh shoot! I forgot!" Pinako swears, Edward and (Y/n) looked at her weirdly until she explains, " If you see your father, relay this message for me. It's from your mother." Edward's gaze tenses, "What is it?" Pinako sighs and tells them both about Trisha's promise.

The promise Trisha made was never disclosed and Pinako didn't know about it either, " Why do I gotta do it!?" Edward groans, Pinako looks at Edward and folds her arms, " He may be a mediocre one but he's still your father. He thanked me for taking care of you, saying he couldn't do anything as a fath-"

" Bullshit! He just doesn't want to be a parent!"

" Watch your language boy!"

" Please! You've said worse and I know it!"

"Not an excuse to use such
language in front of the dead!"

" I don't think arguing in front of the dead is much better."

Both Edward and Pinako deadpan at (Y/n) before Edward sighs, " I'll tell him." Pinako nods and looks back at the graves, " I'll see you rascals later then." With the two of them being kidnapped to Resembool they didn't need to go back to the house and pack, so all that was left was to get on the train back to Central.

" I guess so." Edward mumbles, (Y/n) looks in the direction of Pinako's house and wonders what Den is doing, " Say goodbye to Den for me." Pinako chuckles, " If you grew up here I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to keep you two apart!" (Y/n) laughs along with the idea, " I wouldn't mind growing up here, a lot less snow, and mountains."

Edward checks his watch and sees the train is going to leave soon, " C'mon (Y/n), we gotta go." (Y/n) oh's and the two of them say goodbye to Pinako before rushing to the station, " Al and Winry are going to have so many questions for us." (Y/n) muses, Edward smiles and watches the passengers get off the train, " Definitely they're going to say ' What happened!? What did you do!? Are you okay!?' " (Y/n) stifled a laugh at the overly-high pitched voice he used.

" All aboard! Passengers going to Central please step on!"

With their queue being called all the passengers step onto the train, after finding their seats Edward and (Y/n) sit down. Resembool was small everyone knew that, trains were never filled to the max with passengers so it was an unspoken agreement among Resembool passengers to give each other as much space as possible.

Using both booths (Y/n) and Edward sat in front of each other, " This so boring without your suitcase." Edward grumbles, folding his arms and his lower lip jutted out ever so slightly, "Eddie, we just got on the train." Edward waves (Y/n) off, " So what?" (Y/n) gives Edward a look which he promptly ignores and looks out the window.

"Attention passengers, this is your conductor speaking! This train is about to leave so please take your seats."

The passengers scramble to get the last of their things put away or pull out a last minute book, the train starts up and (Y/n) frowns. Of course she missed everyone they had to forcibly leave behind in Central, the place just didn't remind her of anything good. Being in Resembool was somewhat therapeutic, it's quiet there and time seemed to move slower, or at your own pace.
