Chapter 5

Matt's POV
It has been five weeks and Gabby has returned to work. I knew I would eventually tell her that I liked her.
It was just hard because it was never the right time her and Severide were always trying to think how to get over the lost of Shay or calls. Sometimes I would bring her in the office but she would have to go and investigate a fire with Severide. Also her and Severide were working on drills because she told me she wanted to be on Squad instead. One good thing was Gabby still came to sleep at my place when she wasn't working at Molly's so I knew that I could tell her the next time she came to my apartment.

Gabby's POV
I know that Casey probably thought that I was avoiding him I was just busy with drills and Severide and I have been helping each other deal with the death of Shay. I decided that to show Casey that I still have time for him is to invite him to a restaurant right after shift. Casey said that he would meet me their. I decided that I could also get to know the new paramedic Sylvie Brett by taking her to help me pick out a dress.

Brett's POV
Hey Brett I invited Casey to dinner and I was wondering if you would come and help me pick out a dress asked Dawson. I was so honored all the guys were telling me how hard it was for Dawson to become my friend. I asked her when we were going. She said that she was going to ask Chief if he would let us go and just keep our walkies on. While she did that I ran to my locker and got my wallet. When I returned she was already in the ambo so I guess that meant chief said yes. When I got in the car I got a phone call from my ex.

Sylvie's phone call
Sylvie: How is my little princess doing.
David(Sylvie's ex): She just woke up I just called to see what time are you coming to pick her up tomorrow.
Sylvie: Have her ready by eight I'll be off of shift by then.
David: Alright I'll let her talk to you when you get off of shift.

Gabby and Sylvie conversation
Gabby: You have a daughter.
Sylvie: Her name is Emily she is two.
Gabby: You know if you want I can have someone fill in for you?
Sylvie: No, it's ok when I pick her up from her dad's house it will probably be the last time for a while because of how far away and his work schedule.
Gabby: What about when you pick her up you come to my apartment well Casey's.
Sylvie: pulled the ambulance to a parking spot then she looked at Gabby and said yeah that would be nice.

In the clothes store
Gabby you've already tried on six dresses and I still like the black dress with ruffles and Sylvie picked up some black tall heels and said these go perfect with dress. Before Gabby could say anything her walkie said Truck 81, Squad 3, Ambulance 61, Battalion 25 Wishington road car accident. Gabby told the clerk lady she would take the second dress with the heels before she changed into her dress and rushed to the ambulance.

On the scene
When the ambulance arrived the guys had already started giving orders to their men.
Casey called over his walkie say he needed a paramedic at the black Yukon. Gabby said that she was coming and ran to the Yukon. Casey told Gabby that the driver was unconscious with lots of head trauma. Gabby soon called Sylvie over the walkie saying she needed a backboard and c-collar and suggested that they call Lakeshore ahead of time When the driver was on the backboard and had a c-collar the firemen helped get him in the ambulance. Gabby shocked him once before handing him off to Lakeshore.

Casey's POV
When the guys got back from the call next shift was already their so I went and grabbed my stuff from my locker. When I got in my truck I texted Gabby saying that I would see her tonight. She replied saying yep and put xoxo and some heart emojis. I texted her back with a blushing emoji and headed off to my place.
