Chapter 10

Two weeks later
Matt's POV (On Shift)
I had just arrived at the fire station. I saw Gabby sitting at the squad table so I guessed that she had just joined squad. I greeted squad with a head knod before going to my locker. As I got my coffee the first call of shift came in Truck 81, Squad 3, Ambulance 61 house fire Hays Street 23545. I put my coffee down and headed straight for the truck like everyone else. When we were on our way to the scene the guys kept asking me questions about Gabby and I all I said was let's not let our love life interfere with our work.
At the scene
Severide's POV
When we got to the fire I saw Casey get our of the truck and Dawson was right beside me. It hurts to know that I messed up a good relationship because I thought that I was the better one for her but it turns out Casey was perfect for her. When I told squad their orders I told Gabby to stay with me as we went to check the second floor I heard screaming coming from a room on the first floor. I ran and pushed the door open. It was a lady in the corner I quickly opened the window and carried her out. Dawson stayed right behind me. Then we went back to check the second floor there was no one up there so I called on my walkie to fire up the hose. When we got back in the squad I could see that there was something on Gabby's mind. I decided that I had to figure out what it was.
At the firehouse
Matt's POV
When Cruz parked the truck I took my gear off and started paperwork in my office. I had looked at my phone to see what time it was and I noticed I had a text message from Antonio.
Antonio's text message
Hey I know what Gabby did was wrong but I can explain the whole thing just come by the Intelligence Unit. Gabby wanted me to tell you earlier but I was busy with a case.
When I finished reading the text message I asked Antonio if OK was now. When he said yeah I asked chief if truck and I could stop by the intelligence unit and that we would keep our walkies on. He said yes so I told truck and we headed off to the intelligence unit. When I got there Sargent Trudy greeted me and I told her what I was there for she told me to wait in a room while she went to get Antonio. When Antonio came down we gave each other a hug and then we got right to it.
Antonio and Casey conversation
Antonio: Gabby still likes you it's just that what happened to Sylvie reminder her of Shay and Severide is the only one she could talk to because she knew that you didn't open up to her about Hallie's death so she was afraid if she came to you wouldn't tell her the right thing.
Casey: Is that the only reason I walked into my own kitchen and saw her on top of him.
Antonio: No, she has a lot of stress on her plate. If it wasn't for my mom I wouldn't have known.
Casey: Known what.
Antonio: My sister may have to go back to where we were first born and testify.
Casey: About what.
Antonio we got a case Ruzek called coming down stairs.
Casey meet me at Molly's so we can finish working.
Casey shook his hand and left.
