It was mid-morning, I had just let the bunnies outside when someone knocked at my door. I furrowed my brow. Normally if it was my brother or Shufu they'd enter as they knocked.

I opened the door only for Wei Ying to be standing there, "Good morning, Lan Zhan, sorry if I am bothering you," he said, "I just wanted to see Ruoxi this morning before the day continues...I can come back later if you are busy."

"No, you can come in, Ruoxi is yours after all," I told him and stepped aside, "come in."

He smiled at me and gracefully entered the Jingshi. Ruoxi came hopping in to him with Yùwàng following behind her. Yùwàng came to me as I sat at my desk. For Yùwàng, I finally had a GusuLan blue ribbon and tied it around her neck, loose enough not to choke her but tight enough not to slip off. I even got a name tag made for her.

Wei Ying sat across from me on the other side of the desk, "Nie-Xiong told me your Shufu is out for a few days, so lectures are on hold until he returns," he said.

I nod, "Mnn, he has a conference in Qinghe to attend," I told him.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

"Huh?" I asked.

"For the past few days you looked as if you were upset over something, I didn't want to pry but I got a bit worried, so I thought I'd check in to see if you were okay," he said.

I nodded, "I am fine."

"Are you sure?" He asked, "if you need to talk, you can always come to me. I have no one to spill anything to."

"What do you mean? You have a good amount of friends to talk with," I told him.

"Not one that I feel comfortable opening up to," he said, "I am always willing to open up to my Shijie, but there are just some things I can't talk to her about...as I feel she may either not understand or misunderstand. I also do not want her to worry about me."

"You can talk to me if you want, I will not go telling secrets, that is not in my character to do so," I told him.

He nodded, "it's okay...I'm still trying to figure it out. I don't know if talking about it now will solve anything," he said, "plus I feel like it's pointless to even have such thoughts."

"What thoughts?" I asked.

"Ugh," he looked like he was unsure about talking about it.

"It's okay, you don't have to share," I told him.

Wei Ying nodded. As he was letting Ruoxi, the bunny's eyes started to glow red. Wei Ying placed two fingers on her forehead and closed his eyes for about ten seconds. I believe, as a spiritual pet, it was a way to communicate with each other. I haven't done so with Yùwàng, but I'm sure that's what it is. Wei Ying looked at me with curious eyes, like he was trying to read me or something.

"What?" I asked.

"Oh, she is just happy to be with Yùwàng," he said. I could tell it wasn't what he saw. I think he just didn't want to talk about it, "oh, I brought you something."

I looked into his eyes with a blink, he brought me something? Me? Why?

He reached into his robes and pulled out a sheet of parchment, and handed it to me. I looked at it, and it was a painting...of me. Not only has no one ever given me something before, but Wei Ying was the one who gave it to me.

"Thank you," I said, "you drew it?"

"I did," he answered, "all from memory."

"It's nice," I told him and set the paper down on the desk, "no one has ever given me something before."
