It has been three months since starcourt mall burned down and everyone was doing well. Joyce got legal custody over Tk and El so they moved in with the byers. It was nice there, kinda like a big sleepover.
A few weeks after they moved in, Joyce told them that they were moving to California which Tk didn't like at all. He was the last one to know seeing as he would most likely have the biggest reaction and he did. He didn't speak to Joyce for almost three weeks before he realized he was being a little dramatic.
She said it would be good for them, a chance to get away from all the bad things that happened in Hawkins, along with the memories. She told him that it would be okay and he would love it.
But Tk didn't want all that. He didn't want to forget Hawkins, it was his home. He didn't understand how she thinks that moving would make him feel better. His friends are here, his boyfriend is here, his uncle is buried here. And she just wants to leave, to forget all of it.
He knew that he couldn't do anything about it so he decided to make the most of his time in Hawkins. Every day since he found out they were leaving he spent as much time as he could with the party.
But as the last full day arrived before they left he realized that he hadn't spent much alone time with just him and Lucas. In fact, they've never actually been on a date since the first night they kissed. So Tk decided to take Lucas on a date. Simple enough, right?
Wrong. Tk has never put together a real date before, seeing as he's never had anyone to go on them with. So he chose to go to the one person he thought would give him the best advice. Dustin.
Tk currently was riding his bike to Dustin's house, he laid his bike on the grass and walked up to the door. He didn't have to wait long before the door was opened.
"Hi, Mrs. Henderson. How are you?" Tk greeted.
"Hello, Thomas. I'm doing just fine, thank you. How are you holding up? I know how much you loved your uncle" she asked him with a look of pitty on her face.
Tk hated that look. Every time someone saw him they gave him sad looks. Telling him how much of a good man his uncle was. And "to hold in there" and "you're strong you'll get through this" he was aware they were trying to make him feel better but all it did was make him feel worse.
The boy took a deep breath before replying. "I'm doing alright. But, uh, I was wondering if Dustin was here. I really need to talk to him"
"I'm sorry, Hunny you just missed him. He went to family Video a few minutes ago" she told him.
"Okay, thank you anyway," Tk said and started his journey to family video. Robin and Steve both recently got a job at family video, he felt like an idiot for not looking there first. He should have known wherever Steve is, Dustin is sure to follow.
Tk leans his bike against the wall of the video store before going inside. he didn't see robin, steve, or Dustin anywhere so started to look through the movies. he wasn't sure what kind of date he'd take him on.
