It was the morning after the game and Lucas was currently in the bathroom puking his guts out while Tk was at the sink wiping his nose. Tk woke up with a nosebleed this morning along with another one of his nightmares, he was just thankful it wasn't one where he woke up screaming.
"You alright in there, Sinclair?" Jason asks from the other side of the door. Lucas was battling a hangover since he was drinking, Tk did not drink he wanted to watch over Lucas, and besides, he wasn't a big fan of drinking anyway.
"I'm good," Lucas says.
"First hangover feels like you're gonna split in two, but you'll live '' Jason pats the door before walking away.
"I told you not to drink" Tk scolded as Lucas hunched over the toilet to throw up again.
Lucas groans as he goes to sit back on his heels. "Yeah, I don't think I'm doing that again"
Tk moves to lean against the wall as Lucas rinses his mouth out with water before joining the others. As soon as they walked out of the bathroom the cops showed up asking to talk to them.
Tk recognized them immediately. It was officer Powell and officer Callahan, they worked with his uncle. He guessed offender Powell was chief now based on his uniform.
The two boys were leaning against the railing when Patrick walked up to them. "I'm sure it's nothing, all right? Probably the neighbors complained about the noise or some shit. You guys alright?"
"Yeah. I'm good'' Lucas replied and Tk just nodded his head.
"Jason. Hey, man, you all right?" One of his friends called out as Jason rushed out of the abandoned restaurant. They all started to go after him but Tk was pulled away from the group by the officers.
"Hey, Thomas. What are you doing back? I thought you moved to California?" Officer Powell asked.
"Uh, yeah, I did. But it's spring break, and I wanted to come visit my friends, '' Tk said awkwardly. He wasn't really sure what to say to them, his uncle mostly did all the talking.
"Well, we just wanna give our deepest condolences" officer Callahan told him.
Tk gave them a weird look. "What?"
"Your uncle. The mall fire. We just wanted to see how you were holding up" officer Powell chimed in.
A look of realization spread across his face. "Right. Right. Yeah, no, I'm good"
"Great!" Officer Callahan exclaimed as an awkward silence took over them.
"Well, I'm gonna" Tk's voice trailed off as he was pointing to the group of boys that were standing at the edge of the forest.
"yeah, go" they encouraged. After a short goodbye, Tk stood next to Lucas. He was going to ask where Jason went but soon his screams were heard from the woods.
