It had been six months since they moved to California. six months since they left Hawkins. six months since Tk has seen any of the party members. eight months since his uncle died.

It's been a pretty big adjustment, not having his friends around. but he likes to think he's adjusted well, although he hasn't made any new friends he found other ways to buy his time.

He mostly found odd jobs around the neighborhood for extra cash like mowing people's lawns, cleaning the gutters, and entering some of the younger kids at school. Some of the older kids would pay him to ensure them an A. the pay was good so he didn't mind besides he needed the cash.

right now Tk was on his way back from the post office, he could have just put his letters in the mailbox and waited for the mailman but he wanted his letters to get to Hawkins as soon as possible. He got Luca's letter the same morning.

In the letter he talked about how the basketball team had one more game before the championship, the game was the day before spring break. Lucas talked about how much he wanted Tk to be there at the game and how much he missed him. He informed him about max's well-being and how she's been acting weird.

Tk wrote letters to all of them, mike had only answered him a few times when they first moved and then focused more on writing El, max hasn't returned any of his letters but he knew she was getting them because Lucas would hand them to her, Tk understood she was dealing with her own grief but doesn't mean he'll stop trying to talk to her.

Dustin and Lucas were the ones he got replies from all the time. Dustin always talked about his new friend, Eddie, who is the leader of the hellfire club, and how he's so cool. Tk liked hearing about Dustin's letters. They made him feel like he was still in Hawkins. he even wrote letters to Steve, Robin and Erica every now and then just to see how they were doing.

Tk really wanted to be at Lucas's game, he really did. but they didn't have the money to fly to Indiana. That's why Mike is coming to them instead of them going to him. Tk knew that Lucas would understand.

Tk laid his bike in the yard before he went inside, he noticed a car on the side of the road that wasn't there before but he didn't pay attention to it. He was taking his shoes off when he heard laughter coming from the living room. He usually wouldn't have thought anything about it but this laughter was different. It was a man's laughter. not Jonathan or wills he knew what they sounded like and that wasn't it.

When Tk walked into the living room he saw Joyce, Will, and El sitting on the couch but in the recliner, there was a man sitting with his back to Tk. The man had brown hair and a lanky build. He was sitting on the edge of the chair so Tk couldn't see his face.

It took Joyce a minute to realize that Tk was there. "Thomas, your back. How was your trip? Did you get there okay?"

"Yeah, it was fine," Tk said hesitantly. he wasn't paying attention to the conversation he was more focused on the strange man sitting in the chair. Tk looked at El and will to see if they knew who he was. El was glaring at the man, Will looked nervous like he knew something bad was going to happen.
