Chapter 2

Helen's POV

I felt horrible and crushed, just replaying his words over and over again in my head, "So what are we going to do now, sis?"

Can it get worse than this? I highly doubted it.

Sometimes I hated my life. Other times I hated my self and very few times I hated Harry.

My heart was never in it but I did wish I could hate him. If he only knew how much he hurts me every single day, I bet he would feel awful about it too.

I mean, why am I not good enough for him? I have all this guys that I don't care about at all telling me that I'm beautiful, that they would do anything for and to be with me... so the question is, why doesn't Harry see me that way?

Why is life so damn unfair? I just wanted to go home, lock myself in my room, pull my pillow over my head and cry my heart out. But I couldn't do that because Harry was still standing in front me, watching  me while he waited for my response. Oh yeah...

"I don't know, bro" I replied, sarcasm stinging every word.

He frowned slightly at my response, trying to figure out why I used that tone with him.

Stupid idiot, why do you have to be so damn perfect? Look at you, standing there like you own the place –which you do but that's not the point– look at that hair, those beautiful curls that frame that beautiful face, then those green mesmerizing eyes, why? Why did I fall for you?

"Are you okay Helen?" he asked, with concern slipping into his voice, as his eyes studied me carefully.

"Yeah, Yeah. I'm great" I muttered, avoiding his gaze.

I heard him sigh.

"So really, you have nothing you want to do right now?" he asked slowly.

Wanna make out?

I thought it and then laughed out loud which resulted on him staring at me like I was going crazy, which I probably was.

I shrugged.

"Nope, there's nothing I want to do right now" I answered.

His expression turned thoughtful for a moment.

"I don't know, but you've been acting really weird lately. I'm saying this because I care, Helen. If you need to talk to me, about anything, I'm here" his voice was honest and I knew that it was the truth. He never failed to provide his love, support and understanding when I most needed it. But this time I could not enjoy the comfort his arms would provide. I couldn't tell him the truth, that I was hopelessly and irrevocably in love with him.

I nodded at his words, "Yeah I know" I said while forcing myself to smile, hoping that he wouldn't see right through it.

Yeah, I'm never going to tell you how insanely in love I am with you.

Harry's POV

"So how about we have a movie night?" I asked my best friend in the whole world. She only shrugged in response.

I noticed that she kept doing that.

"Sure, why not?" was her response.

"Alright, I'll get the movies and set everything up" I announced.

She nodded. Again.

"Okay, I'll get the popcorn" was the last she said before she left the room.

While I rummaged through my collection for a good movie to watch, all that I could think about was Helen.

Something was up with her, I could feel it. But she wasn't talking about it and I can't place my finger on what exactly is going on.

You would think that with all of the time we have known each other and been best friends, that I would be really good at knowing what was going on with her, right? Not even close. Yeah, I could tell when she was upset, but that's as far as I can read her. Helen's mind was still a mystery to me.

As my eyes scanned through the two movies I wanted to watch, I smiled. I had made up my mind.

"Paranormal Activity 2!" I yelled loud enough for her to hear me in the kitchen.

Her response was muffled by her own coughing.

With a frown, I made my way through the short path to the kitchen, where I could still hear her coughing. I found her throwing away a bag of microwave popcorn, while the odor of something burnt hit my nostrils.

"Did you seriously burn them again?" I asked with an amused chuckle.

Helen scowled at me.

At this, I put my hands up in surrender and she frowned, but it was more like in a sad way.

My smile disappeared in an instant.

"Hey babe, don't worry. I'll just make another bag, okay?" I suggested in what I hoped was a gentle tone.

Helen nodded slowly as she walked past me, I'm guessing to wait for me in the living room while I made another bag of popcorn.

I grabbed her hand before she could leave and pulled her in my direction, enveloping her in my embrace. I rested my face besides hers as I closed my eyes.

"You may not want to tell me what's going on, why you're upset, but I'll find out. You know I always do" I whispered in her ear and then let go of her, but not before I saw the look of panic that filled her eyes.

Why doesn't she want me to know what's happening? We're best friends for god's sake, this is so frustrating!

My thoughts were interrupted when I heard the beeping of the microwave announcing that the time was up. I moved away from Helen and I got the popcorn out.

I opened the bag and threw the contents in a big bowl.

I walked back to the couch, where Helen was waiting for me.

At exactly that moment, when I sit down beside Helen, my cell phone rang.

I was going to ignore it because it was probably Georgia ready to give me shit again and I was not in the mood for another fight. But when I checked the caller ID, it said Boo Bear so I picked up the call.

"Who was it?" Helen asked when I finally hung up.

"Just Louis. He and Zainab were bored and they're coming here to watch the movie. So now we have to wait till they come to play it" I said with a shrug. She nodded in understanding.

"So how are things going with those two?" she asked with a genuine smile, the only one I've seen today.

"He keeps telling me that they're just best friends but come on? We both know they are perfectly made for each other!" I told her. She laughed and assented enthusiastically.

"I cannot imagine Louis without her, so he better move his butt and realize that already!" she said.

After the exchange on Louis' lack of common sense, we continued talking.

We were deep in conversation until we heard a knock on the door, which was probably Louis and his 'best friend', so I got up from the couch and went to open for them.
