Helen’s POV

Why did I ever agree to come here? I’m not even in a party mood!

Oh yeah, because Harry asked me too; and what Harry asks, Harry gets.

That sounded really bad, because it’s not like he takes advantage of me, he’s my best friend. But my feelings for him always get in the way, therefore I end up doing anything he wants, even if I don’t really want to.

I absentmindedly tugged down the hem of my skirt and fluffed my now wavy hair a little bit.

I don’t know what I was expecting when Harry asked me to come to this party but I was definitely not expecting to be stood up and alone in a stranger’s house.

Before I could stop it, my anger was bubbling up inside of me until I finally decided to give Harry a call.

He answered on the third ring.

“What’s up Helen?” he answered in a quirky tone, which only resulted on pissing me off even more.

“Where the hell are you?” I asked, not so politely.

“What do you mean… oh yeah, the party… I’m really sorry bestie, something came up. But Zainab and Louis said they were going to be there, look for them so you won’t be alone” he suggested.

Oh isn’t he helpful? I thought sarcastically.

“Oh don’t you worry about me, BEST FRIEND, I’m fine alone. I’ll just dance with one of the guys that have asked me to. But thanks for the suggestion” I said it in an overly sweet tone and was about to hang up but Harry’s voice stopped me.

“Are you mad at me?” he asked softly.

The sadness in his voice tugged at my heart and I felt myself losing steam.

How did he ever get so much control over me?

Harry’s POV

“Maybe this was a bad idea” I told Louis after Helen hung up without answering my question.

I was expecting her to tell me she wasn’t mad at me but the fact that she decided not to answer meant she preferred not telling me that she actually was.

“Everything that you have ever planned it’s a bad idea, Harry. No, sorry. I meant terrible, horrendous and awful idea” Louis stated, taking a sip from the beer he was holding in his hand.

I felt my shoulders go slump, my resolve of finding out what Helen was hiding was a little shaky at the moment.

“What’s wrong?” Zainab asked. I hadn’t noticed she had approached us.

We were all at the party but we were back in the pool deck while Helen was inside, oblivious to the fact that we were all here together.

“Where is she?” I asked, worriedly. If she found out I was here she was going to be even more pissed at me, something that I was not looking forward to. At her best, Helen was the sweetest girl ever. At her worst, well, let's just say that there is nowhere anyone could hide from the wrath of her fiery temper.

“She's still inside, though she seemed very angry when I walked up to her. The weird part was that she was angry one moment and the second after, she smiled and told me she was going to have some fun. When I left she had just started dancing with some guy” Zainab gave me what felt like a report and guilt hit me hard.

I pushed a hand through my hair as I let out a breath. Louis' gaze studied me and realized that something was wrong.

"Babe, could you let me and Harry talk alone?" Louis asked Zainab.

I saw hurt flash in her eyes for a second but then it was gone, and so was her.

"I think you hurt her feelings" I said after she left.

Louis frowned in confusion at this but then understood what I meant.

"Ugh... I'll apologize later" he appeared frustrated for some reason.

No matter how much he said there was nothing going on between him and Zainab, we both knew they had feelings for each other. Denying was literally fooling no one.

I couldn't concentrate on Louis and Zainab though. All I could think about was Helen.

What am I doing? Spying on my best friend when she doesn't want to tell me what's going on with her?

I had two choices though, telling her what I had planned on doing to find out what's going on with her or keep going with this crazy scheme hoping that it wouldn't ruin our friendship if she ever found out.

"What do you want me to do?" Louis questioned. His blue eyes were expressionless.

I took a deep breath.

"Keep on with the plan" I stated.

Louis rolled his eyes as he took another swig at his beer bottle.

"Whatever mate, your choice" after saying that he was about to leave, but I stopped him.

"Get drunk if you want mate, but don't you dare let the plan slip out of your mouth" he nodded solemnly at my warning and took off.

Everything was now in Louis hands.

I know what you're thinking, this has chaos written all over it, but really, what option do I have?
