Helen's POV

Whilst avoiding my best friend's unnerving gaze, I managed to finish eating my breakfast. Then I wasted no time in excusing myself to Harry and left swiftly to take a very welcomed shower.

I washed my hair, rinsed it and did it all again until my hair was silky smooth.

As I was scrubbing my skin with soap a memory from last night hit me. Harry's soft lips against my jaw in a gentle kiss.

It almost broke me how tender he was being, hugging me, trying to make me feel better about a guy who doesn't want me, not knowing that it's actually him... and then that happens. Oh my God, I have no idea where my will power came from to actually say something, to make him realize what he was doing. Part of me wants to kick itself in the face for getting him to stop.

I should know better now, I've seen how he gets when he's drunk so from now on I have to avoid being anywhere near him when he's in that kind of state. I'm just only hurting myself by spending so much time with him, driving myself mad by wanting to be near his presence.

When I finally got out of the shower, I pulled a towel around my body. I quickly proceeded to unlock the bathroom door and then I sprinted to the guest room where I shut close the door and locked it behind me.

I got dressed in a grey t-shirt and a red cardigan over it. I pulled up some black skinny jeans and slipped my feet in my red vans. On my wrist I clicked together the lock on my braided leather metal bracelet and on my ears I locked two black crystal studs. I created a messy braid with my hair and I with one look at the mirror I considered myself done.

Harry's POV

Helen excused herself as soon as she was done with breakfast, leaving at a quick pace. I heard when she turned the water on, meaning she was taking a shower and for some reason the thought made me feel more at ease.

When I was finished eating, I washed the dishes Helen and I had both used, and then put them inside the empty dish washer and left them there to dry.

I noted when Helen opened the bathroom door and heard her running footsteps towards the guest room, locking herself in. It's like no matter what I was doing, my brain was following her every move.

I wasn't invaded by any forbidden thoughts about her though, and I took that as a good sign. It probably meant the alcohol was out of my system by now. As I considered this, I was startled into attention by my phone ringing. I took it out of my jean's pocket and read the caller ID. Georgia.

A wave of guilt washed over me. I didn't call her last night or this morning. I was the worst boyfriend that has ever existed. I mean, I had her number saved under Georgia for god's sake, not any sweet, cute nickname I had for her; and we have been dating for over six months!

My guilt had me almost pressing the answer button, but then Helen came out of the room looking really nice. Without taking my eyes from her I hit the ignore button and then turned off my phone.

She always dressed like this, very casual but never trashy. So why was I thinking she looked beautiful?

I pushed my phone inside my jean's back pocket and literally gritted my teeth to not walk up to her and do something stupid. Instead I faked indifference, as if things were the same as they were yesterday morning, even though I had a feeling that they weren't.

"You leaving?" I asked, trying to sound nonchalant as I leaned against the kitchen counter. I thought I was doing a good job of appearing casual.

"Yeah... I guess I have to fix the whole mess I made last night" Helen said with a sigh. You could tell by the look on her face that she was dreading the whole thing. I didn't blame her, it was going to suck getting Zainab to hear her out, and even harder to get her to forgive her.

"But you don't really want to do that right now, do you?" I asked, taking deep unnoticeable breaths to keep myself calm. I don't know why I was feeling so nervous all of a sudden.

She shook her head with a sad expression on her face and I hated it. I hated seeing her upset, more than I hated anything else.

"Then don't" I said simply.

She looked up at me, her eyes confused. I decided to explain better.

"Why don't we take a do-nothing day? Hangout around town and have a stress-free day?" I suggested.

Her eyes glimmered with something I couldn't decipher before she sighed again.

"What about the whole mess I made?" She asked, sadness hinting in her voice.

"It will still be here when you get back" I said this with a cheeky grin. I saw the corner of her mouth twitch just right before she broke into a lovely smile to return my own.

"You're right. But are you sure you want to? I mean... You've spent a lot of time with me these past three days, isn't Georgia going to get angry?" She was right. Georgia was going to be beyond upset and I felt guilt creeping up on me again... until I looked at Helen's blank expression, one that I knew well enough meant that she was trying not to show me that she hated the fact that I couldn't spend time with her without getting myself in trouble with my girlfriend.

"Don't worry. I already talked to her and she's busy today" I lied.

She seemed kind of doubtful at those words and I felt horrible for lying to her, it was actually the first time I did it. I never felt the need to lie to her before. I don't know why I was doing it now.

"Don't you trust me?" I asked.

That did the trick. Helen relaxed after my words and smiled up at me.

"Of course I do" she replied. Her faith in me tore at my insides. She trusted me blindly and I was fucking lying to her.

I stayed silent at her reply because I would feel worse if I added more to the lie but it didn't matter, because then she said something that made me feel even more awful.

"If I can't trust you, then who can I trust?" she walked past me, a smile on her lips as I opened the front door for her and then followed her out.

That's what I said two days ago to Louis. That if she didn't trust me, who could she trust? Now I was lying to her for the first time ever in the long time that we've known each other. If she ever found out, I don't know what would happen. I don't even want to think about it.

I decided to shut down my brain and enjoy the rest of the day. Because I had a feeling that soon things were going to get really fucking crazy and messed up.
