Riley POV

"Riles? Can I talk to you?" Addie said. I didn't want to hold my grudge forever so I answered her, "Yeah?", "I need you to help me with something, to tell Zed the reason I can't talk to him.".

As some people came up to Zed asking for autographs, I was finishing setting up Addie's project. When I was done I walked towards Zed as his fans walked away. "Hey, Babe." I said, with a slight whisper. I hate that we have to keep our relationship a secret, but as I said before Seabrook hates different. "Hi, Ry." Zed said, giving me a hug. We chatted for a bit and then got up to head to our next classes. "Alright, I need to get some stuff from my locker." Zed said, 'That worked out perfectly.' I thought.

As he opened his locker, glitter splashed all over his face and he picked up the card in there. "Cheering for you on the inside!", it read, "The cheer squad is forcing Addie to not talk to you. So that's why she wasn't been able to sit with us at lunch." I explained, "Good to know, now I can tell Eliza that her crush isn't avoiding her." Zed said with a laugh, "Oh? Eliza has a crush on Addie? That's crazy, Addie has a crush on Eliza!" I said, excited for my bestie to finally have a chance at dating.

"Yeah, go Zed!" Me and most of the crowd cheered, then Bonzo gave me a beautifully crafted origami bird and gave me a hug. I chucked and opened the note, it read: "Ready to break every rule in the book? Meet me at the barrier. 7:00 p.m. Tonight.".

~~~
'Okay, I should start heading out.' I told myself, looking at my phone that read: 6:54 p.m. Luckily my parents go to "sleep" early. In reality they lock themselves in their room and do, good knows what! I quietly opened my window and slowly crept onto the roof, I jumped down and immediately regretted that decision as my legs ached, really bad. I finally got to the barrier and I checked my phone again, "Damn, 7:12!" I said, "Phew, I thought you stood me up!" A voice said in front of me.
I looked up only to realize it was Zed, "Hey, Baby." I said, giving him a peck on the lips, "Sorry I'm so late, I jumped off my roof and hurt my legs so I had to limp my way over here." I explained, "Oh, are you okay? Do you need-", "I'm fine." I interrupted. "Well, I'm still gonna help you." He said, putting my arm over his neck and his arm on my shoulder.
As we got on an elevator, I noticed Zed's wrist, it seemed to be purple, it looked pretty painful. Zed looked down at his wrist, glumly, he seemed to be a little uncomfortable. "Are you okay? You don't look so hot." I asked, "Ouch.", "You know what I meant!" I said, playfully punching his arm. "I have to mess with my Z-Band to win games." Zed said, looking down, "Isn't that dangerous?" I said.
"Ry, if I don't win zombies will never be accepted." "I know how you feel." I said, taking a look at my body. "Stop that you're amazingly beautiful." Zed told me, planting a kiss on my forehead, "Well so are you." I said, leaning up to give him a kiss. We stayed like that for a while, until the elevator came to a stop.
I gasped as I took in the sight before me, "Are you serious?" I said, still amazed, "Hey, it's a chance to get loose and be ourselves." Zed informed me. "So, this whole celebration is for you winning football games?" I asked, "It's more than that. It's a win for all of us, and we really needed a win." Zed answered back.
I looked to my left and saw a painting on a wall. "It's zombie tongue." Zed said, as he noticed my curiosity, "We have a rich language. 23 different words for brains.". "Woah!" I said, "So, you like someone with brains?" I said, mimicking a stereotypical zombie, causing us both to laugh. "You know that's super offensive." Eliza said, walking up to us, "Oh, no, no, no. It was just a joke. I'm sorry." I responded, feeling awful.
"Oh no, you're fine. I just meant it as a heads up." Eliza clarified, "Oh, phew, I felt like a real asshole." I said, relieved. I heard a loud, mechanical-type, noise and Zed said, "Aw it started! Come on." Zed said, running off, I followed closely behind him, confused.
