So I am trying something different here. Taking the same characters and stepping them out of SCK and into AU. They have many of the same characteristics, well, some do, others don't, but we shall see as we go along.

Let me know your thoughts! This is Very Much a work in progress so your opinions are appreciated.

I'm starting with the backstory before jumping in to the present day.

********************************************************************

Aptekin Ocal had never worked a day in his life and he was proud of it. From a young age he had been blessed with charm and good looks and was born into a family with moderate wealth that was able to indulge his lifestyle. When he met Aydan Bolat, a woman from an extremely wealthy, very old family line, he knew he was set for life. Never again would he have to work.

Aydan Bolat was horrified when her family arranged for her to marry Aptekin Ocal. Simply horrified. Granted her father didn't know that she had been meeting with Kemal Ozcan for almost six months and was in love with him, they wanted to get married but Kemal's family didn't have money. He was in school to become a lawyer, he was brilliant and strong and hardworking. He was everything that Aptekin was not.

Kemal and Aydan planned on running away together to get married when her father found out, a tearful Aydan was dragged back to Istanbul and married to Aptekin the following day. Aptekin didn't care that Aydan didn't want to consummate their marriage, he cared even less that she was newly pregnant with Kemal Ozcan's child. To the world he was Aptekin Bolat, he assumed the Bolat name because the name was older and regal. He was now a rich and powerful man under the wing of Aydan's father, ready to be groomed to take over the holding company.

Oh, he had no intention of actually running the holding company, no as soon as the old man was gone he would sell it off piece by piece. Or so he thought. It took Mustafa Bolat less than a week of Aptekin's company to realize that they had made a mistake and another month for him to realize just how big of a mistake it was. He had contemplated divorce for his daughter, the mistake was that bad, and then Aptekin played his trump card and announced that Aydan was pregnant.

Aydan was doomed to a loveless marriage, Mustafa did what he could to protect her financially. Mustafa loved his daughter and apologized to her, begging her forgiveness. She wasn't ready to forgive her father but she wanted something from him, she wanted him to keep Aptekin away from her and her child. Her father readily agreed, anything, he knew he had erred, he had to fix this.

Mustafa and Aydan met with Aptekin to sign a contract. He was given a very healthy allowance with an annual increase as long as he agreed to stay away from Aydan and her child. Aptekin had no desire to be a parent, especially a parent to someone else's spawn, so he readily agreed. Aptekin needed to learn to read the fine print though, the agreement only lasted until Aydan's child turned eighteen. On his eighteenth birthday she was free to file for and uncontested divorce and he would be paid a final lump sum. That day would end the gravy train for Aptekin Bolat. He wouldn't be able to come back and beg money from the child either because all parental claims would be severed. The dollar signs were too blinding to Aptekin so he signed without reading.

Aydan gave birth to her son, Serkan. Mustafa's grandson was his pride and joy. As much as Mustafa tried to get little Serkan interested in all things money, all that Serkan wanted to do was play cops and robbers, he wanted to be a policeman. Mustafa's assistants were all used to getting 'arrested' by the charming child who was a fixture in the office from a young age.

Time marched on for the Bolat's and Mustafa knew that his time on earth was coming to an end. He wanted to make sure that his darling daughter was safe and taken care of and that his beloved grandson would be able to follow whatever path he wanted to in life. Aydan had confessed to her father that Aptekin wasn't Serkan's father, he had suspected it for some time, what man would give up his own son so easily?
