Aptekin's boss was looking for him, he had heard the news from more than one source. He figured that he had better put in a call, no way was he putting in an appearance.
"Boss? What's up?"
"Aptekin, you useless piece of garbage. What's this I hear about you offing Cenk? Not only did you act without my permission but I also hear that there's a witness."
Aptekin needed to feign ignorance, "Boss, I've been on vacation for the past week, what are you talking about with Cenk? What did that idiot do this time?"
"Aptekin, Aptekin, Aptekin, do you think I'm stupid? I have my sources within the department so I know that they've already ID'd your pitiful self. What I want to know is what you're going to do about it and then how you're going to make it up to me."
"Make it up to you?"
"Get rid of the witness Aptekin. I have something I need you to do."
"What? What do you need me to do?"
"Why Aptekin, so eager, get rid of the witness first then we'll talk. You haven't shown me that you can handle more than one thing at a time."
Aptekin was left with dead air. The boss may have connections but he didn't. Well, that might not be true. Not everyone in the police department thought the sun rose and set out of Serkan Bolat's ass, he knew one person who hated him with a passion to match his own. Yes, maybe he could use that to his advantage and then he would see about getting back in the boss' good graces.
Engin came in early that morning to declutter his desk. He figured that Ceren might not be wrong about it being a mess, he had spent the previous evening cleaning up his apartment too. He figured having a cleaning service come in once a week to tidy the place up wasn't a bad idea because he hated the idea of having to do it himself.
He had just managed to get everything tidy and was coming back into the office space, having gotten rid of a rather large trash bag, when Pyril walked in with Cenk's autopsy report. Engin watched Pyril as she just stared at his desk, he thought that Ceren was probably right, he had been living in a pig stye.
Play it cool Engin he thought, that was what Ceren suggested, "Pyril? Is that the autopsy report on Cenk?"
Pyril did a double-take between Engin and his desk, stammering, "Y-y-y-es. We finished it late last night."
Shaking herself back to reality, Pyril focused on the autopsy report, "The cause of death was actually a nick to the pericardium, he also had a punctured lung. His cause of death was pretty close to how Dr. Basar described it."
"I'll let her know when I see her later today," said Engin distractedly as he looked through the autopsy report. "So no defensive wounds, he just let himself get stabbed just like Eda hanim said, idiot."
"Correct, no defensive wounds. Well I had best get going." Pyril was irritated that Engin didn't even pay any attention to her. No flirting, he didn't ask her out and he had even cleaned up his desk. So Ceren Basar is worth making all these changes for but not her? Maybe she shouldn't have been so hard on him all these years but the man made no effort at all. Pyril sighed and went back to the morgue.
"Serkan, we have the autopsy report for Cenk. The stab wound pierced the pericardium, he bled out within minutes like Ceren said. No defensive wounds." He handed the report to Serkan.
Serkan was still staring at Engin's desk, "Engin? What happened to your desk?"
"Oh, that. You were right, it was a stye, I came in early to clean it up. I even hired a maid service for my apartment. If I want to be taken seriously I have to look the part, Ceren said so."
