Serkan was livid. He knew that Aptekin's arrest was too easy. Fatma's death was unnecessary, it was a decoy used to send a message so that they could try to get that worthless piece of garbage Aptekin Bolat off. If the cocky bastard thought he was going to walk free by lunch, he had another thing coming. If Serkan had his way he wasn't getting bail. Ever.
Aptekin was purple with rage when his lawyer told him that bail had been denied. The judge had deemed him a flight risk after he was informed that he had just returned to town. Aptekin also heard that the witness was still alive and able to testify. However the judge had not decided if he would require the witness to testify in person due to the recent murder attempt. The witness had successfully identified the suspect as well as the clothing that he was wearing that day. Other people that saw him that day corroborated his clothing. The boss would get him out Aptekin thought, he still had value, didn't he?
What Serkan wanted to know was how they found out that Eda and Melo were at his mother's house when so few people knew. He knew, Engin knew, the girls knew, Seyfi, his parents and Fikret bey. There was also the possibility that someone had eavesdropped on his fathers' call, but that was a longshot.
The only person that Serkan told in the office was Fikret bey, he couldn't imagine him being the leak, did they trust him? He would talk to Engin.
Serkan needed to get to his parents house to make sure that everything was okay there. Karadag was handling everything with the Beykoz police department but he needed to see for himself.
"Engin, now that Aptekin is locked up for a bit I'm going to run over to my parent's and see how they are, I'll be back as soon as I can."
Engin waved him off, he knew that Serkan had to be worried. He would never get used to Serkan's sixth sense about things. When he said that arresting Aptekin was too easy and that something was up Engin could see his mind working. It's what made him so good.
"Serkan, I'll finish up some paperwork and then go down to the ME's and see what's up with Fatma. We never made it back over there."
"Thanks, keep me posted."
The entire drive to his house Serkan was thinking about the leak in the department. If it was Fikret bey why? They still didn't know who Aptekin was working for. He had a thought.
"Leyla hanim? Can you do me a favor and pull some files for me? I'll send you a list of them in about an hour okay?"
"Serkan bey, if I do this can I be excused from taking your dog on any more crowd surveillance walks?"
Serkan just sighed, "Yes, you may be excused from here on out."
Her squeal of excitement was just rude.
Serkan pulled his car as close to the gates as he was able to get, he flashed his badge so that he was able to enter without difficulty. He spotted Karadag in the distance and he came over to meet him.
They shook hands, "Thank you for taking care of them, I owe you one."
"No problem sir, I was just glad that I was here. Having that gut feeling that something wasn't right saved their lives, we would have been sitting ducks. The men came in the back pasture, Eda spotted them initially. I was able to call the guards and then we communicated via Bluetooth. Sir that set-up is bad, you should fix that, have a radio or a headset or something. Anyways the intruders weren't a match for the guards."
"Were you able to interrogate any of them?"
"No sir, it was the damnedest thing, almost like a suicide mission."
"Huh. I'm going inside, I'll be back in a bit." Serkan thought on his words a bit, a suicide mission? Who were these men that were sent. They needed ID's on them a.s.a.p.
