Trying my best to keep my wide eyes on the road, I simultaneously focused on the phone calls happening. Taking a swift left turn that led to a quieter road in the dark, I sighed, tiredly.

"The Polish delegate was supposed to arrive at the airport by 6 P.M but his flight got delayed due to unfavorable weather conditions."

I nodded in understanding as if Ben at the other end was able to see me.

"He called to inform us that he'll arrive tomorrow afternoon," He added.

"I understand. Schedule our meeting on Monday," I earned a gasp from the other end.

Unbuckling my seatbelts, I stepped out of the car and opened the long black gates that led to the garage. Hoping inside again,  pressed the accelerator and drove through the gates into the dimly lit area.

"Zayden, what happened to the no-break-from-work-even-on-Sunday rule?" He asked, sounding baffled.

Taking a glimpse of the rearview mirror, I got off the car, holding the phone close to my ear while I mindlessly swung my blazer over my arm.

"This Sunday shall be an exception. I was up early today and I need my sleep, Ben." I stated, rolling my sleepy eyes.

"Didn't coffee do the magic?"

"Only to some extent," I mumbled, "Catch you later, good night."

"Good night."

I hung up on him and releasing a breath of relief, I made my way to the entrance. I raised my arm to ring the bell when I noticed the door was already slightly open. Frowning at my parents' carelessness, I swooped in to be even more bewildered to see two extra pairs of feminine shoes.

"Visitors?" I muttered under my breath, slightly pissed.

I stared at a certain pair of slippers that seemed oddly familiar.

"I'm home, mum-

I stilled when I met the eyes of another woman, seated on the white couch before the fireplace. Black, observant eyes I was all too familiar with. In a moment, the realization hit me.

"Mrs. Bell?"

"Zayden, is that you?" She asked, equally surprised and confused at my presence.

An involuntary smile etched across my face as I made my way inside the warm room that was a major contrast to the harsh, cold winds outside.

"Mum never told me you were visiting us today," I mentioned, walking closer to her. I saw her standing up and my eyes widened, "Oh no, please be seated."

She smiled, "Oh, it's alright,"

"Had I known of your arrival, I would've left the company earlier," I said, guilt enveloping me. Imagining it to be an ordinary dinner with my parents, I had taken my own sweet time to come home.
