A marriage is like a rose; a romantic keepsake having the combination of thorns and petals. The red hue of the petals symbolizes love, and passion and is soft to touch. The thorns that lay on the stem, however, represent adversity and sacrifice.

That girl. . .
I touched my lips in disbelief, unable to forget that incident. There was no way I was getting all jittery from a little kiss. I had just not seen it coming, that's it.
She seemed to be having fun teasing me like that, and usually it was the other way around. But why did it change all of a sudden? Did my absence have to do anything with it?
I sighed, perching my thumb and forefinger against my forehead.
I'm not concentrating at work anymore.
"That little devil is something else," I murmured, shoving the papers away from my desk.
I wondered what she may be doing right now. She's at home, obviously, so she'll be free, right?
"Someone's distracted today,"
I almost jumped out of my seat at the voice.
I had totally forgotten that Ben was still in my chamber, helping me with the impending paperwork. It was almost evening and I had barely gotten any work done except for attending the regular meetings.
I cleared my throat, "So is Ms. Daisy's resignation finalised?"
"Yes, and there is a new recruit to take her place in the department."
"Why don't we select a member from the existing team?"
"The directors are still discussing regarding to the matter, but so far there aren't any suitable substitutes," He replied, earning a nod from me.
I nudged my lips, recalling my schedule for the week. Regular meetings, a visit to the local farm and a business trip to the east side of the city in four days. I'll be gone for a week again.
"So she kissed you?"
"What?" My head snapped towards him.
An evil smirk played on his face, "She did kiss you, didn't she? You've been touching your lips ever since you left your house."
"My lips feel dry."
"Exactly. That's why she kissed you. She probably thought your lips needed some sort of lubrication."
I rolled my eyes and picked up my phone, "Whatever."
Will it be a good idea to text her?
I clicked open my messages and selected her contact. But something caught my attention and I furrowed my eyebrows. She was online as well and had just updated her profile picture.
It felt like a crime, but I was doing it only out of curiosity.
She was smiling in the picture and it looked beautiful. She is beautiful and it affected me in many ways than I can imagine. Her eyes are filled with mischief that I never see whenever I'm around. It remains hidden because of how distant we are with each other. With her childlike features and habits, I doubt I can ever take her seriously.
