A marriage is like a rose; a romantic keepsake having the combination of thorns and petals. The red hue of the petals symbolizes love, and passion and is soft to touch. The thorns that lay on the stem, however, represent adversity and sacrifice.

I hummed a tune as I sauteed the vegetables on medium flame. The chef took the trouble of teaching my clumsy ass on how to cook so that in his absence, I don't die of starvation. And today is one of those days.
I heard slow footsteps entering the kitchen but remained focused on my cooking and paid no attention. I couldn't afford to mess up the most delicious meal of the day.
Several days had passed since Zayden canceled his business trip to work from his company and not leave me alone at home. Well, I am during the daytime but the nights are peaceful at least.
I reached out to grab a spoon when I felt long arms engulfing me from behind. I stilled, inhaling the being as he nestled his face in the crook of my neck.
"Sweetiepie," He spoke in a low voice, taking me by surprise. All this affection was still new to me.
"Oh hey, done with work?" I chirped, raising my hand to caress his cheek.
"Done for the day."
I hummed, transferring the vegetables to another bowl.
"Where is the chef?"
"He's taking his wife out to dinner. It's their wedding anniversary today. "
I loved it when Zayden would hold me from behind in the kitchen. I wanted to jump up and kiss him on the cheeks because it felt so good to have him so close and warm, but I had to focus on cooking dinner.
I could tell he had trouble hugging me from behind because of our height difference, but he was sweet enough to not complain about it. I stood on my tippy toes, making him hug me a lot easier.
"I'll sauté it now," He let go of me and came beside me.
I noticed his ruffled hair partly covering his eyes, and the wrinkled tee that hugged his figure correctly. Maybe it was tight? I couldn't tell. Either way, he was a sight to behold.
"I can do it, it's alright!"
"I'll handle it, beautiful,"
He began sauteing and lowered the flame. I knew there was no stopping him now.
I went behind him once he stopped moving wrapped my arms around his abdomen region and rested my head against his long, well-built back.
"Imitating me?" He asked, placing a hand on top of mine.
"Yeah, are you comfortable?" I asked in a muffled voice, placing a light kiss on his back.
He let out a chuckle, "Of course, hug and kiss me all you want."
Suddenly, a loud, intentional cough alerted the two of us and I immediately let go of Zayden. He was more surprised at my action than the cough, which I quickly picked up on when he shot me a confused glance.
