She was excited for nothing.

Somewhere, her expectations skyrocketed and plummeted.

Her hopes and anticipation were crushed into a paper ball that unluckily couldn't be thrown out of her mind.

This wasn't the time for her to display her sensitiveness in front of a man she barely knew. It had taken years of practice to become reticent and lower her sensitivity issues.

What good would those be if she started sulking now?

The waiter had told them there were multiple, free seats on the next floor, for the first floor was unusually crowded with busy visitors desperate to chug in the energizing liquid she found overrated.

She started walking alongside him, glancing over at his flawless countenance she refused to admit.

His hazel orbs never failed to bewitch her. She couldn't interpret anything from those tranquil yet fitful eyes. They appeared mirthful at times when there was nothing humorous happening, but she always felt an odd sensation when her dark globes clashed against his. It wasn't love at first sight; this she knew.

The dress made her feel better about herself, but a part of her didn't want to waste the new dress when she wasn't even on a date.

She bitterly thought about her and her eagerness to the date prior to meeting him.

They proceeded to climb up the wooden stairs that led to the second floor of the well maintained café.

She noticed that she was ahead of Zayden and deliberately slowed down to not leave him behind. She took support of the railing, for the stairs were too steep and polished. On top of it, she had worn a dress that fell below her knees and a pair of noisy, black sandals that could make her slip any moment if her mind wandered off.

She perceived his subtle panting from behind and silently tried to guess his age.

Which coffee would she order?

Would he split the bill with her?

Expecting it, she stepped on her dress and before she could prevent her feet from exerting too much force to rip apart the dress, she lost her balance. Placing the new dress as her top most priority, her back foot went into the air and propelled her figure downwards, causing her eyes to widen in horror.

She let out a shriek as her hand clutched the railing and the other firmly and painfully pressed against the smooth staircase, tormenting her.

She felt a shooting pain in her knee bones, but endured it when she felt fast footsteps approaching her fallen figure.

"Melina!"

Embarrassment coursed through her and she blamed her clumsiness that emerged during the unexpected times. Bad things always occur when the rest of humanity is around.
