I sat next to five getting absolutely wasted , and since we were at a wedding , I had zero shame. So I made the mistake of drinking way to much way to quickly.
" cinco! " Klaus pointed at five " mi hermano "
" oh god " he sighed " what do you want? "
" listen to me " Klaus replied " dad is upstairs right now with a plan to save everything . So what say you y/n and I pop up to the suite for a little chitchat? "
" absolutely not " I choked on my drink
" what are you like frick and frack with the old man now? " five asked
" this dad's different " he argued " he's a turtle. Hard on the outside, but all cute and wrinkly and occasionally delicious on the inside. "
" klaus? "
" yeah " he sighed
" old dogs like him and us never change. " said five " he has never had our best interests at heart. So, my only plan for tonight is to get fucked up beyond all recognition. "
" sure " Klaus groaned " have at it"
" I shall! "
He turned away and looked for a new victim to fill with dumb ideas only causing Lila to come over
" kids nowadays " I shook my head " so naive. Believe anything. "
" I know right " five replied while handing me another drink which I gladly took
Suddenly a camera flashed . I rubbed my eyes , I was to drunk for that
" five, darling , I'm of to the bathroom. Be back in a giff. Ok? " I stood up with a hand still on the back of his chair
" ok baby , don't be to long " he leaned his head back , I leant down and kissed him before walking out and to the bathroom.
I quickly walked over to the sink splashing my face with some water when I saw Reggie walking past and to the banquet hall. shit , what was he doing ?!
I poked my head out of the room and watched him slowly walk his way to the doors, I blinked in behind Luther Solane and Klaus
" you are about to have a very unwanted quest" I warned them before patting their backs and walking back over to five and sitting back down
" that was quick " he commented
" yeah , just needed some water , that's all" I replied
I heard the doors open , here comes the fosil.
The room went silent as everyone glared at the man , even Ben seemed unpleasantly surprised by his presence . Luther and Solane just wanted a normal wedding , they did not need this asshat interrupting their night.
He sat himself down at a table all alone and began eating, he looked up at us all and smiled . What the fuck? I haven't seen him smile since.... Never, he has literally never smiled. I looked down at my drink awkwardly .
" you good? " Viktor asked
" yeah , I'm fine..it's just him, he doesn't do smiling " I shrugged "and, oh my god why are Lila and Diego going to talk to him! "
" calm down darling " five chuckled " stop people watching and just focus on me , and the booze "
" you specifically " I raised my eyebrows " that's a bit self centred , I'd rather focus on Ben "
" shut up" he laughed " don't lie to yourself, the new Ben is a dickhead " he kissed me gently
" you two better be the next getting married " Viktor piped up
" I hope so " I smiled " if there is anything after the universe gets eaten. I want to spend it with him "
" aww " five cooed after finishing another shot
Viktor got up and walked away just as I heard Reggie tapping on a glass. What did he want now!
" I know it is customary for the father of the bride to --"
I covered my ears , completely not in the mood for this painfully long dialogue
" please kugelblitz, take me now " I groaned, five rubbed circles in my back
" hey " he said " you might wanna listen to this, he might actually say something nice "
I rolled my eyes and uncovered my ears and began to listen to his speech
" Solane " he said " ever since you were a little girl, I've always known you were exceptionally bright. And though I can't say I know Luther all that well, from the few moments we have shared, it seems you found yourself an adequate partner. "
" he just called Luther adequate " five snickered
" is he high? " I asked " first he's smiling now he's being a decent human being, something's up"
" I acknowledge that as a father I was not without my faults " he continued " I hope these shortcomings will be seen as a rough patch on an otherwise verdant lawn. " my eyebrows furrowed as his speech dragged out , he wanted something from us. He had to , he didn't do nice " I'm proud to call you my children. Even those who I raised in a revenant version of myself. I hope that tonight we can create a few special memories in whatever precious little time we have left. And now in closing.... " I intertwined me and fives fingers together as I began tearing up. He was ... Proud of us? Genuinely proud of us. " the sun rises over a lilys feild. A mother veild, her lips concealed. The mourners come in droves of black to bury what their hearts unpack. with shallow breath and time eclipsed, I pray you miss deaths gentle kiss. " he raised a glass and bowed his head , me Klaus Diego and Lila began clapping for him
" I didn't think the old man has it in him " said five as tears welled in his eyes
" alright, alright, time to turn those frows upside down! " chet announced " this one is for all the party people in the place. "
He began playing the music , I smiled
" five hargeeves " I said " will you dance with me? " I held out my hand to him
" of course " he stood up and we walked over to the dance floor
Everyone danced with each other, what a way to go out this was. I even danced with Ben for crying out loud! It was the best, and the worst knowing it was the last time we were ever going to do this.
Lila and five were like officially best friends now, I think they spent more time dancing then anyone else. Which I found funny, considering they 'hated' one and other
Tonight was peak perfection.
