lost cause

i woke up to a knock on my door, "who is it?" i asked as i rubbed my eyes.

"it's me baby, i've got something for you." billie said through to door.

she opened the door and came in with my favorite breakfast, waffles and bacon. 

i smiled as she set the plate down and put a water next to me. 

she turned around but i grabbed her hand before she got too far away.

"please stay." i quietly said as i looked up at her. 

she smiled and sat down next to me, "whatever you want baby."

"what happened last night after i left?" 

"oh uhm, well kennedy and her parents left not long after and your dad tried to talk to me about what happened, but i didn't tell him anything, i promise."

i nodded before i said, "i need to tell him, don't i?" 

she nodded her head as she said, "he's really worried about you baby."

"did kennedy say anything?" 

"yeah, she said she was sorry and she only brought q over because he begged her to and that she misses you." 

i slowly nodded, "sounds like her." 

after about 10 minutes, there was another knock on my door. 

before i could say anything my dad said, "aubrey i need to talk to you sweetie."

i looked at billie then she said, "do you want me to be with you?" 

i nodded my head as i grabbed her hand and stood up, walking to the door. 

i opened the door and followed my dad into the living room. 

we sat down on the couch and he said, "aubrey tell me what the hell that guy did to you."

i told him about the party billie and i went to, how he grabbed me, put his hands on me, held me down, kissed me, then how billie came in and beat the shit out of him. 

his face was so red the whole time i was telling him what happened. 

"and where was your girlfriend when all of this was happening?" he asked as he looked at billie.

"sir i was talking to my brother about something." 

"this is your fault billie, you left her there-" 

billie stood up as she said, "this is not my fault, don't even go there. i did all i could that night. i broke down a fucking door and saw him on top of her. you wouldn't even understand what i was thinking when i got to the stairs and she wasn't there. i looked everywhere for her, and then when i got to the one locked room i just knew. my gut was telling me she was in there. i broke the door down and there she was. i did everything i could that night, i tried and i tried. i fought and i fought to get her out." billie started to cry as she kept talking, "i love her so much and to just see her like that? to see someone doing something to her, someone i used to trust. it hurt so much, i can't even tell you. i think back to that night all the time, what could i have done differently? maybe your right, maybe this is my fault. your right i left her all alone, i was gone for one minute and something happened to her that was out of my control."
