Two days before leaving for England, Cassie was invited to a Hollywood party thrown by one of the producers she met at Sebastian's party. He had a movie idea for next year and wanted to cast Cassie in it. After 3 auditions, Cassie was finally on the team but won't start shooting until next year. All she could think about was to tell Sebastian, but unfortunately, they were no longer talking. She wished she could have brought Sebastian to the party with her but that was also not happening.
"OMG, Cassie this is amazing! Thank you so much for bringing me." Caroline exclaims as they walk into the party held at a nightclub with EDM music pumping through the room. Caroline and Cassie are really close but mostly at work or the occasional drink at the bar after work. They don't hang out on weekends but that is also due to their tight work schedule and how busy the law industry can get. Tonight Cassie was desperate and with the small, almost to none social circle that Cassie has, she would have to bring her father or Caroline.
"Cassie, that's Jake Gyllenhaal!" Caroline squeaks, "OMG, is that Zoe Kravitz?" Caroline goes on.
"Okay honey, you need to calm down and pretend you belong."
"Okay, okay, I gotcha," Caroline says trying to relax a little.
"I'm going to get us some drinks," Caroline says as she headed to the bar. That was the last Cassie heard from her as the next time she saw Caroline, she was on the lap of some NFL football player laughing and chatting away completely forgetting she was supposed to get Cassie a drink.
Fortunately, Cassie was never one who relied on a wingman at a party. She knew how to mingle and introduce herself to everyone. "Why do I feel like I've met you somewhere?" A voice startles Cassie from behind and she turns around to see a charmingly handsome with pearly white teeth, Michael B Jordan. "That's cause you have met me before. And if I remember clearly, I made somewhat of a fool of myself." Cassie says blushing a little.
"Oh right, now I remember." He teases her. "So where is your dashing boyfriend that whisked you away the last time?" Michael asked glancing around.
"He's not here. It's just me." She says looking down sadly.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you," Michael says as he gently caresses her arm, realizing he had touched a sensitive spot. "Heh, it's fine, I'm good. So the movie, how exciting." She quickly changes the topic and perks up.
"Yeah, I'm really excited to be working with you, I saw your audition tape. You were amazing. And the chemistry read you had with Danny Devito was really something." He compliments her.
Cassie laughed nervously, "Thank you. That means a lot." She says smiling shyly.
"Michael!" A woman calls out. "I need you to meet somebody, come with me," she says.
"Cassie, it was really nice talking to you. I will see you around." He says and leaves with the woman. Cassie glances around the room but Caroline was nowhere to be found. She decided to step outside the club and catch some air. As soon as she stepped out, the place was crowded with people. Cassie kept her head down as she walked toward the corner where it was quiet and she could be with her thoughts for a bit.
"Hey" a voice startles her. It was a man standing a few feet away from her and had clearly just snorted cocaine as he was whipping down his nose to get rid of the disgusting white powder. He seemed to be dressed really well and it was obvious he was a guest at the party who had taken a break to snort cocaine outside. Just the classic Hollywood stuff. It's been a while and Cassie had forgotten what this world was like. She use to always be surrounded by people either smoking or snorting something.
"You look gorgeous, what are you doing out here alone?" The man asked as he walked closer to her. "Heh, not snorting cocaine for sure." She says sarcastically as she laughed a little.
