"I'm sorry Cassie," Jake said as his voice emerged from the bathroom having cleaned himself off. He wasn't even looking at her when he said it. It didn't seem like he meant it. Cassie couldn't find the power in her to move or speak. She just laid there watching him stand in front of the bathroom mirror with a towel around his waist as he began shaving his face. "How could he act as if nothing happened." Thought Cassie as she turned over and stared at the ceiling. She squeezed her eyes shut for a few seconds and opened them, hoping this was all just a weird dream. But the physical pain she was in, told her this was real. She had just been raped by her ex-boyfriend. All his apology to her, saying how he'd changed and he loved her, was a front.
"I need to get out of here." She said to herself as she tried her best to step out of the bed. She glanced into the bathroom again to see him still standing in front of the mirror completely ignoring her. She slowly walked to the living area of the suite and looked for her purse that had her phone in it. She found it at the doorstep where Jake had attacked her and she dialed Caroline's number. She couldn't think of anyone else she could call at this moment. Her dad would lose his shit and she had blocked and deleted Sebastian's contact last week. He would probably just think she deserved what happened to her, she thought.
"Hey, can you please come and get me?" Cassie says in a whisper as soon as Caroline picked up.
"Hey, are you okay?" Caroline asked worriedly.
"No, I'm at the Four Seasons, please come," Cassie says.
"Okay I'm not far away hun, I'll be there in 15 minutes," Caroline says and hangs up
"Who are you calling?" Jake asked with slight worry on his face. He overheard Cassie on the phone and panicked, afraid she might have called the police on him. "Cassie, you know I didn't mean to hurt you right? I was just really mad that you.."
"You raped me, Jake." She whispers in disbelief.
"Cass, I'm sorry." He says walking up to her.
"Don't touch me!" She yelled standing up and backing away.
"Okay, okay," He says stepping back with his hands in the air. "Cas, who did you call?" He asked again.
"What?" She looks at him, shocked by the question.
"Did you... did you call the police?" He asked nervously. "Seriously, that's what you're worried about? why? If I did, will you kill me here, in this suite?" She could not believe how unashamed he was to be blatantly self-centered after what he just did. Part of her was also afraid of the thought that he might have it in him to actually kill her if he needed to.
"What? No!... Look your acting career is just starting out again and you know how a drama like this can mess up your name." He says. "I was a victim. It can't mess my name up for the worse." She states. He looks at her for a few seconds and began to walk slowly toward her as she backed away
"Cassie, I don't want to be an asshole but, you're a lawyer, you tell me. You were at a party, you spent the night at your ex's hotel. And then you say it was rape?" He says with a slight twinkle in his eye. "In front of a jury, eek," He says smirking.
Her heart instantly dropped to her stomach. She could not believe the words coming out of his mouth.
"You did not just say that." She looks at him in shock. And he casually shrugs. She was completely taken aback by his statement. This is who he is. He's always been the asshole that he is. She was the stupid one to feel bad for him and believe he had changed.
"How did you get so evil? Or were you always this ugly person?" She spits.
"Oh shut up! Stop acting like a saint. I gave up my marriage for you and you treated me like dirt." He says walking closer to her.
