Third Person POV
Rain.
What a wonderful thing.
Until the winds start to dance a little faster, the roaring sounds of thunder, and the striking flash of lights get closer.
It's a thunderstorm.
Xiao hated thunderstorms.
He hated the sounds, the flashing of lights, and the hard rain flooding everything in its path.
He didn't like how weak it made him feel. How vulnerable he felt during times like this. Why would a storm make him feel so weak? That's a question that has no answer. Why? No one knows. Not even himself.
When he tries to explain it, nothing comes out of his mouth. His brain knows why, but he can't seem to turn it into words.
No one understood, and just called him a baby for being scared over such a small thing. But There was one person who didn't care.
There was one person who didn't mind Xiao hiding under the covers, wearing headphones. Listening to music, hurdling up into a ball, sobbing, trying to keep the sounds out.
He didn't mind. Instead.
He would move close to Xiao under the covers. He would gently place his hands over the other's body, and embrace him. He would hold him and rub small circles on his back, motioning that he was there. He would kiss the other softly, in hopes it would calm him down just a bit. Through the storm, whether it was minutes or hours, he would embrace the other. Making sure he was okay and that he didn't feel scared. Once the thunder has calmed down, Xiao would uncover his ears. The blonde would move closer, hug the other around his waist and whisper sweet things in his ear. That he loved him, that everything was going to be okay, and as long as they had each other nothing could ever happen to him. They were safe in each other's arms.
Xiao was so glad he had Aether to hold him and reassure him in his weakest moments.
Sunny.
When it's sunny out, Xiao doesn't know how to feel. Whether he should be glad it's nice outside, not too cold, not too hot, and enjoy the scenery.
Or sad that Aether is leaving for his travels and won't be back for a couple of days or weeks. Aether always leaves the Inn when the weather is nice. Xiao misses him every time he leaves.
He can't stand seeing Aether leave.
He's scared the other will get hurt, and he would be too far away to save him.
He doesn't want to lose him, but he knows that Aether is very capable off taking care of himself.
But that feeling will never leave him. So for now, while the weather is nice and he still has his lover. He decides to go out and have fun with Aether. Enjoying the moment before it's too late.
Once his lover leaves, he'll try and go find his friends and be with them. In hopes that he will slowly learn how to cope with the fact that Aether will be very far away.
Snow.
It reminds Xiao how much he hated his childhood. How he was forced to eat snow, because that was the only thing he could find to eat. He hated how he had to live in the wild, scared, hungry, and alone. He hates snow.
Until his star, he world, reminds him every time that he's safe and that he will never have to go through what he went through as a kid again.
Thanks to Zhongli, for saving him. He reminds Xiao that things will be different now because he has a family.
Xiao is greatful that Aether doesn't judge him, and reassure him no matter the situation.
That's why, slowly but surely, Xiao is learning to like snow. The cold air brushing against his face, piles of snow to play with, make snowman, ice-skating. He wants to enjoy the snow with Aether and his family.
Zhongli, Childe, Ganyu, and Hu Tao.
He wants to learn how to love snow.
But deep down he knows, it's more then just snow.
Windy.
Ah yes, Xiao's favorite type of weather.
Xiao loves the wind blowing everywhere. The trees and grass making music in the wind. The breeze glided past him, his hair and clothes flowing through the wind.
He likes how un-still the world is. Everything moving. Nothing in one place. He likes the violence in the air.
Aether knows this, and it makes him happy seeing Xiao's face brighten when he hears the wind making music.
Aether is glad that this is one of the only types of weather Xiao doesn't mind. And that he's slowly getting use to the mortal world.
While Xiao stands outside of the Inn, Aether follows and back hugs him. They don't say a word, they don't need too. Xiao feels at peace with Aether and the wind beside him.
The wind, at times, will remind him of a song he once heard long long ago...
Fog.
It isn't Xiao's favorite, but it has its good factors.
When it's foggy, Xiao feels all sticky and gross. He does not appreciate that at all.
But it is good for camouflaged when he needs to take a target down.
He likes the fog because during these days he gets to teach his lover how to conceal his presence and do a surprise attack.
It's a little hard for the traveler to blend in with his surroundings.
Xiao likes to mess and tease with him about how he sticks out, but Aether doesn't mind. He's actually glad that Xiao is relaxed and making jokes. It's rare to see him like this. Makes him glad.
Xiao loves to teach Aether small little tricks, in hopes that it will keep him safer in the future.
No matter what type of weather Xiao is in, as long as he has Aether. He doesn't care. He's really happy to have his partner with him.
Through the thick and thin.
Because no matter what type of weather they are in, as long as they have each other close by, Xiao won't be haunted by his thoughts and his past.
The End <3
