You and I, Except I'm Not Included

(Based off an event that happened to me <3 I was Aether. This happened during my freshman year of high school)

I have been in love with a special person for a very long time. On the outside he seems cold and distant. Like he never wants to be here, but deep down. Very Very deep down, he cares deeply for the people he considers family. He is sweet and attentive, making sure everyone is happy and comfortable. He cares for others regardless if he seems like he doesn't, he is just, perfect. My heart belongs to him and him alone. But, his heart doesn't belong to me. It belongs to my best friend who is just so perfect.

He is a free spirit, never letting anything get in his way. He speaks up for freedom and fights for justice. He is talented in every aspect, he could do nothing wrong. He has a voice of a pure angel, and a smile that even the heavens would fall for. He is charismatic, brave, joyful, charming, and friendly. He is everything sweet wrapped inside of a small box decorated by nature. Straight A's, soft air, clear skin, and so very confident.

Xiao, my crush.

Venti, my best friend.

Those two are made for each other and no matter how much it pains me to say it. To see it. It's the truth. Whenever they are together, Xiao smiles a little wider. Venti softens a little softer. And I just falter a little more. But it's okay, I'm okay. As long as the two most important people in my life are happy, I am too. That's what friends do...

"Aeeeeethhhhherrrrr!" "ACK!" Aether tumbled forward as Venti jumped onto his back. "Venti careful! We could have both gotten hurt!" Aether grabbed Venti's legs to help the older stay on. Venti was basically getting a piggyback from Aether. Venti chuckled, "Sorry Sorry! But hey we didn't get hurt!" "This time." Aether muttered. "So where to?" "You know where." Of course he does. To the classroom, not just anyone's classroom. Xiao's. Xiao's classroom. taking a deep breath, Aether started the journey to Xiao's classroom.

Venti held on tight, not wanting to fall off. He looked down and stared at the back of Aether's head. His cheerful demeanor slowly disappears off his face. He knew, deep down, just how much he was hurting Aether. Not physically but mentally. His smile was gone as he stared at Aether's long hair. He hated just how much he was hurting his best friend. How much he wants to reassure Aether that he has o romantic feelings for Xiao. But he can't, because Aether hasn't told him of his crush. Venti found out by accidentally eavesdropping on him and Kazuha one day. Or perhaps, there wads another reason. Venti held on a little tighter than needed.

"Venti are you alright? You are usually more chatty." Aether's voice was filled with concern . Venti switched. "Of course I am hehe~ Just tired. Had a long day of exams! I don't understand why teachers must put exams on Mondays! Just wait until Friday so I don't have to worry about it all weekend! This stress is going to give me wrinkles!" Aether laughed loudly. "Oh my god, calm down! Haha it is just e-exams!" Aether couldn't control himself. His laughter just spilled. Venti joined along, loving the way Aether's laugh sounded. It sounded like pure joy. However, it was cut short. They arrived at Xiao's classroom. Venti cursed himself in his mind. Was this really a good idea? We were having fun...

"Special delivery !" Aether said louder as they entered the classroom. Xiao closed his book and turned in his seat slightly to the two boys. "Ah Venti made you give him a piggyback ride again hm?" "MADE HIM?" Venti acted offended. Aether crouched down so Venti could hope off. "Of course not. Besides, it's a good workout." Xiao playfully rolled his eyes, "If you say so." Aether felt his heart flutter. Venti watched the interaction and smiled softly. How badly he wished Xiao could notice Aether's feelings. But he can not intervene. He couldn't do a single thing.
