Twin Fight

Third Person POV

 Lumine and Aether had been avoiding each other at school and at home. Their friends were concerned and had asked them if everything was okay. The Twins would nod and their friends decided not to push it.

However, everything was not okay.

A week ago or so Lumine and Aether had a fight. A fight about Xiao. Lumine was upset that Aether rejected Xiao, she and Xiao have been friends since they kids and were always closer to each other. Aether was upset that Lumine couldn't understand where he was coming from. He loved Xiao he really did, but he felt like he wasn't good enough. That Xiao could find someone better. And not have to worry about Aether.

The fight was pretty bad. Not physically, but verbally bad. Lots of hurt things were said and curses. Venti and Nahida witnessed the whole thing. The fight was so loud that they woke up Paimon from her nap.

Ever since then, the Twins have separated. Sure they did their own things before but it was different now. They purposefully avoided each other. It was getting worse. Xiao was unaware of what happened between the Twins. Lumine told him briefly that they fought. But she didn't clarify to him what the fight was about and what was said. Xiao felt hurt. He and Lumine were best friends, and now her and his crush, Aether, were distant.

He decided a few days ago to ask Venti what happened. Venti told him.

Xiao felt horrible. Did he cause this? Venti assured him that it wasn't his fault, that the two siblings just had different views. Still, Xiao felt awful. Venti comforted him the rest of the week. And even at this very moment, Venti was comforting Xiao while he had a break down. Venti was hugging him as Xiao cried into his next. Aether walked by the two, who were in an empty classroom.

Aether hated himself. But he had to stay away from Xiao maybe Xiao would move on. Aether looked at the scene once more. Maybe Xiao could fall in love with Venti. Venti would be perfect for Xiao. Aether sadly smiled. Yeah. Perfect.

It was a shit show the rest of the week.

A new week of school started and it was worse. It was Monday.

Currently 5th period, and the Twins were arguing I'm the hallway, some classmates and friends watching the scene go down. Venti was holding Lumine back, while Scaramouche was holding Aether back.

They were yelling things at each other that no one understood what was going on. Heizou and Kazuha went to go get Xiao.

"You chicken! You coward!" Lumine yelled. "You can't face your feelings! You're pathetic and weak!" "Lumine what has gotten into you!?" Venti asked her. But she wasn't listening. The only thing on her mind was getting through to Aether. "I can live with that! At least I'm not a violent psychopath!" "Psychopath!?" Aether nodded. "Hell yeah! You are always starting fights with people! You violent motherfucker!" "Fuck you! Why can't you...URGH! You know what! Go on say it! You know what I'm talking about!" Aether's eyes widened. 

When Xiao finally arrived he was confused on why the twins were fighting. According to Kazuha and Heizou, the twins broke out into an aggressive argument.

Xiao's eyes widened when he heard what came out of Lumine's mouth. "If you won't accept that Xiao is in love with you say you hate him! Go on. Say it!" "Shut up Lumine!" "Make me Aether!" "You don't know anything about how I feel! You have no idea and you never will cause you so, STUPID!" Aether shouted. Scaramouche looked around and saw his friends in the crowd. He looked at Xiao and back at Aether. What happened between the two?

Aether began to cry, he was always a bit more sensitive. "Always think with your heart instead of your head. I'd kill to be that way!" Aether sniffed and his strength was slowly fading. Scaramouche didn't have to hold him back, he had to hold him up. "If I told him how I really felt about him...He'd leave everything behind for me!" His voice cracked. "His hopes, his dreams, he'd sacrifice everything! If he knew the truth he'd do it!" Aether then smiled, a memory of Xiao flashed through his head. "That's the kind of person he his...so kind and caring. God....And I..." Aether let it all out. "I WON'T LET THAT HAPPEN TO HIM!" He broke into sobs as he turned and cried into Scaramouche's neck. He wrapped his arms around his neck and cried. Scaramouche started to rub his back. He looked at Xiao. Xiao got the hint.

He slowly walked over and tapped Aether's shoulder. Aether turned and saw Xiao. "X-Xiao?" "It's okay, I'm here." Aether sniffed and he let go of Scaramouche to hold Xiao instead. He cried and cried. Lumine watched. "Lumine that was a dick move." Scaramouche whispered once he was close to her. "I know. But...it was the only way for Aether to let his emotions out..." Scaramouche ruffled her hair. "Yeah okay. Pretty sure there was a better way." Lumine rolled her eyes.

After the crowd calmed down, everyone went back to class except Xiao and Aether. They went up to the rooftop to talk. It was their quiet place.

They spent the rest of the day talking, telling each other everything.

"I love you." Xiao said.

Aether was taken back, scared to say it back. He took a breath and remembered it was okay. It was okay to be selfish.

"I love you too, Xiao." Xiao softly smiled and pulled Aether close.

Soon their lips met.
