Arranged Marriage

Royal Au// Prince Aether is forced to marry Princess Ayaka, but both love another person...

Third Person POV

Aether looked at himself in the mirror, the sun's rays reflection onto him beautifully. He wore an all white suit, with light blue flowers in his pocket. His tailor, Yae Miko, smiled at him. "You look beautiful, my prince." Aether sighed, "I do.. This suit is perfect, Miko, but..." His eyes wandered to the window. Yae Miko sighed, "But you don't want to get married. Why is that my prince? Does Princess Ayaka not meet your standards?" Aether shook his head, "It's not that. It's just...I don't love her, at least, not the way I love -" Aether's sentence was cut off by the sound of someone knocking on the door. "Come in!" Yae Miko said loudly, the walls were quite thick in the castle. Soon, a short male with dark colored hair and teal tips enters the room. He was Aether's personal royal guard, Knight Xiao. Aether smiled widely as he stepped from the slab. "Xiao! How do I look? Handsome? Mesmerizing? Beautiful?" Aether gleamed as Xiao gave him a light smile. "Amazing, my prince." He cupped Aether's cheeks and kissed his forehead softly. Yae Miko coughed, "Sorry to interrupt, but what are you doing here?"  Xiao's face went serious once more. "Prince Aether was requested to go see his sister." Yae Miko nodded. "Alright. Give me a few minutes to get him out of this suit."

After taking off the suit, Aether and Xiao walked to Lumine's room. "What does Lumine need Xiao?"She wanted to talk about the...you know... the marriage." Aether cringed at the mentioned of the marriage. "Xiaooooo, why must I do this?" Xiao rubbed the back of Aether's palm, "Because it's your duty as the prince, my love." Deep down, Aether knew that, but still, it hurt. Xiao and Aether held hands the whole way, not caring who saw. Besides, it wasn't a secret to the staff. All the staff knew of the little love affair going on between the two. Only the King and Queen were oblivious to it, or rather chose to ignore it. 

Once they arrived, Aether knocked on Lumine's door. Seconds later the princess opened the door. "Brother." "Sister." They looked each other in the eyes, then broke into a huge fit of laughter. Xiao shook his head as the Twins hugged each other. "C'mon come in!" She pulled Aether inside and Xiao followed inside, closing the door behind him closed. "Anyways what's up Lumine?" Aether asked as he sat on the neatly made bed. "I wanted to discuss something with you..." Then someone opened the bathroom door, it was Ayaka. "More like we have something to discuss with you Prince Aether." Aether raised an eyebrow. Xiao sat next to Aether, resting his head on the younger male's shoulder. "Me and Lumine found a way to avoid our marriage..." Aether perked up. "What is it..?" He waited for their answer in anticipation. Lumine held her arm out to her brother, "Let's runaway." Xiao nearly choked. Aether's eyes widened in surprise. "I'm sorry, what?!" Aether yelled out. Lumine covered his mouth. "SHHHHH!" Ayaka sighed and pulled Lumine's arm away, "These walls are thick, dear." "Oh yeah."

"Anyways Prince Aether, think about it. It's the only way that we get to be happy. You get to be with Xiao and I get to be with Lumine..." Aether listened to Ayaka's words carefully. She had a point. If they ran away, all four of them...They could be with the ones they truly loved. They didn't have to be forced into this arranged marriage.  "My love, you aren't actually thinking about it, are you?" Xiao asked, he raised his head and looked Aether in the eye. Aether couldn't help but not meet his gaze. "Xiao, it's our only way...The only way we can be with each other." "But you're parents, you have duties to fulfill yourself as a prince. Aether I-" "Do you love me?" Aether met his eyes. Lumine and Ayaka slowly and quietly walked away.   "A-Aether I-" "Do you love me?" Not once has Xiao ever told Aether the words 'I love you.' Xiao felt like he didn't deserve to say such words to Aether. But to the blonde, it hurt. It hurts not hearing those words come out of his lover's mouth. Then Xiao thought about it. If they ran away, if they left, he could be the one to marry Aether.

Xiao let out a breath he didn't know he was holding. "I love you." "Then do this for me, for us. We won't ever have a happy ending if we stay. Let's leave." Aether was begging him to leave and Xiao knew, he couldn't say no. He held Aether's hand, "Alright...Let's leave." Aether smiled and jumped onto Xiao. "Yay!" He cheered. Lumine and Ayaka walked back into the room. "Sooo?" Lumine asked, trying her best to contain her excitement. "We're escaping!" Aether jumped up and pumped his fist into the air. Lumine joined in on the little celebration. Ayaka laughed at the two siblings while Xiao just sighed with a small smile. The group then started planning their escape.

The night of the marriage arrived and everyone was getting dressed. Aether was getting changed into his suit and Ayaka into her dress. Xiao watched as Aether got dressed. Before Aether put on his tuxedo jacket, Xiao walked up behind him. Aether smiled into the mirror. Xiao wrapped his arms around Aether's waist and buried his face into the blonde's neck. Aether chuckled, "Clingy aren't we?" Xiao nodded. "Aether, after we escape...Let's get married." Xiao mumbled. Aether was taken back for a minute but then nodded. "Okay. Let's get married then." He turned slightly and gave Xiao a kiss on the head, "I can't wait."

Soon it was time for Aether to leave. Xiao cupped Aether's cheeks and placed a soft kiss on his lover's lips. Aether smiled, when they broke apart Aether whispered, "See you soon..." He turned and left. He looked stunning and Xiao had to watch him leave. When Aether was out of view Xiao left too. He went to go start the plan.

Aether waited at the altar for Ayaka. Her father would walk her down the aisle. He was nervous. What if the plan didn't work? What if they are caught? What if- He took a deep breath. He looked up, a fake smile plastered on his face. His eyes scanned the crowd, Lumine wasn't in her seat. 

 Soon the lights faded and a bright light shined at Ayaka and her father. As they walked down the aisle Aether shifted slightly, giving Ayaka the signal. Ayaka noticed and smiled warmly. When they reached the end, Ayaka and Aether stood in front of each other and smiled. Aether whispered, "Ready?" Ayaka chuckled. To the crowd it seems like the two were saying sweet things to one another before the ceremony began. 

As the ceremony proceeded, everyone watched unaware. As the priest finished he looked at Ayaka, "You take Aether as your husband? Through sickness and in health, through the rich and poor?" Ayaka smiled, "I do." The priest then looked at Aether and asked the same question, "I-"

The lights went out. Aether grabbed a hold of Ayaka's hand and quietly walked off the stage. The people started yelling and shouting, asking what happened to the lights. Aether and Ayaka went backstage and saw Lumine, with a cheeky smile and Xiao standing there. "C'mon we don't have much time!" Lumine grabbed Ayaka's hand and led her down a passageway that was hidden behind a wall. Aether walked up to Xiao and offered Xiao his hand. "Ready?" Xiao took Aether's hand and walked through the passageway.
