Sugawara's POV:
"Well it's about fucking time you show up." Teru greeted Oikawa and I at the front door with a big smile and a beer in hand. Yeah, we'd shown up over an hour late. It was more or less six now.
"Fashionably late, darling. Ever heard of it?" Oikawa replied back with a flick of the hair and budged past the blonde.
"You're at a party with a bunch of fags. There's no such thing as being fashionably late. Just late. It's quite common." He argued back, unamused with Oikawa already. Same Teru, same.
"What did you expect." I replied to Teru since Oikawa had already ran off. Still in eye sight, still lurking near me, but away from Teru and the fashionable or not time management argument.
He laughed and agreed with me, telling me he was happy to see me and finished with a 'bro hug'.I liked Teru, he's a good friend. Everyone here was. My team, Karasuno, and i were especially close to. Just because the only person who makes me alive is Oikawa doesn't mean Oikawa is the only person i like. I have lots of friends that mean the world to me and they do make me happy, i can tell i'm happy and having fun, it's just hard to feel.
However, i have hope -high hopes- that a day will come where the feeling will be strong and clear. The day Oikawa-ness is spread across my world. I've never felt so sure that day would come. I've dreamed, hoped and wished for it but it all felt unrealistic. But with someone at my side, that someone being Oikawa of all people, for once in my life it feels achievable."Don't worry everyone." I announce when i walk into the main room where everyone sat and chatted, "I'm here. We can party now." Everyone either laughed or cheered at my announcement and it gave me a sense of power over them. Even the stranger sitting next to Suna, i assumed was the friend he was talking about, cheered.
Teru patted me on the back as he walked back and offered me a cider to start my night off. I accepted it without hesitation once i saw it was an old mount, then happily took a seat by Oikawa. "Life of the party." He whispered in my ear, close, very close it made me heat up a little.
I had wondered why Oikawa hadn't made it official yet. It's been days but i gave it a benefit of the doubt. Asking people out is hard, i get it, but after what happened... after he tried kissing me and walked in that day. I don't know, i guess my mind just hates me because i keep convincing myself it's because he regrets it and doesn't want to ask me out but also doesn't want to hurt me. In that case, i don't want anyone getting the wrong idea, so i budge a tiny bit further away from Oikawa (just a tiny tiny bit) in hopes he wouldn't notice.
The first drink went down easily. The second, easier. We were all more or less in the same position as we'd all just been chatting, sharing stories and gossip, listening to the music that played in the back. A playlist of a mixture or arctic monkeys, the killers, falling in reverse, Oasis and some other classics.
The third drink was when we got more active. A game. A game is exactly what we needed. "Okay. Someone make me a mixer and i'll explain the rules!" I announce to everyone in the room, truly expecting someone to do as i say.
But i was only met with, "Fuck you. Make your own drink." by Daishou i think. But i was too distracted to really know who.
I turned to Oikawa and put on my best puppy dog eyes face. Without a word Oikawa sighed and got up to get me that mixer. I heard a mumbled "whipped" but let it slide.
"Okay. So," I started explaining, not bothering to wait for Oikawa despite him being so nice for me. Oikawa was on his second drink, i think, as i was just finishing my third and waiting for my fourth. "The game is called Kings. It's a classic, very simple and easy to get drunk off."
Oikawa returned in time with my drink and i happily took it with a big grin. He smiled back and i smiled more and now we were two idiots smiling at each other with a load of other idiots watching us as they impatiently waited for the rules."Ahem." I think that was Yachi who interrupted us. Maybe Kiyoko. It was definitely a girl, but yet again i wasn't paying attention to much around me. "Rules?"
"Yeah. Rules, Kings. I'll write them down, it's a lot to remember."
And so i did.
A pack of cards in the middle of us all and a piece of paper that read the meaning of each card from Ace to king.Ace: 'Waterfall'. everybody drinks.
Two: 'You'. pick 2 people to kiss.
Three: 'Me'. Kiss a person of you're choosing.
Four: 'Whores'. Ladies drink.
Five: 'Bust a jive'. Creat a dance move.
Six: 'Dicks'. Guys drink.
Seven: 'Heaven'. Reach for the sky. Last person drinks.
Eight: 'Mate'. find a drinking buddy.
Nine: 'Rhyme'. Pick a word, next person rhymes it or drinks.
Ten: Shot shot shot
Jack: 'Never have i ever' drink if you have.
Queen: 'Question master'. Forfeiters drink.
King: 'Pour some into the cup'. Player who picks the last king drinks the cup."Questions?"
"Yeah. Me." I looked around to see that Kiyoko had her hand lazily up to ask a question. "What's 'the cup'?"
"The cup is a cup in the centre of the circle. Every time someone picks a king they can pour a drink of their choosing into the cup. It doesn't matter if they don't mix, actually it's better if they don't, and the last king has to drink the poison."
Everyone agreed to the rules and the meanings and got ready to play.
Kings isn't the most entertaining game when you're sober, but it's a hell of a game to get drunk."Me. Me first." Shouted Kuroo. The next second he was leaping forward and grabbing the first card. "Three."
