Martha smiled and walked up to her son. As she tied his bow tie she looked up with a soft smile. "What?" "Well are you going to tell her?" "Tell who? Tell what?" "Tell Katherine how you feel about her." "Oh." She finished the tie and he brushed his suit stepping back a bit. "I don't know mother, what if she doesn't feel the same way?" "Then you move on, but I can see you're in love with her." "Madly." "Then tell her..Tonight" Looking at the mirror and at himself he nodded. "I will." "That's my boy." He half smiled and fixed his hair. "Daddy wait till you see Kate's dress! It's gorgeous!" "I bet." She smiled and hugged him. "Bye hun, be good for Gram." "I will." "Good." Breathe Kate, Breathe. She was looking at herself in the mirror. She had her dress on with black heels and her hair up in a bun look with hair dropping a bit. No wanting to wear a deep makeup color she wore light shimmery lipstick and golden eyeshadow. I can do this, I can do this. Taking her phone and purse she locked up her apartment and walked into the elevator, soon getting down to the limo Rick said would be waiting for her. "Wow!" "I assume your Miss Beckett?" "Yes." to meet you Edwin." "Likewise." He smiled and opened the door for her. "Thanks." "Anytime." He smiled and closed the door as soon as she was in.

It took 20 minutes to arrive at the Plaza and Kate's mouth was open when she walked in. "Hi can I help you Ma'm?" "Yes um I'm here for The Annual Gala ball." "Ok, is your name on the list?" "Umm I don't know." The woman raised her eyebrow and folded her arms. "Then you may leave, if your name is..'" "Kate?" Whipping around at the tall woman with dark black hair she nodded. "Yes?" "Your Kate Beckett?" "Yes I am." "Good, She's a guest of Rick Castle." The woman nodded and walked off. "Umm thanks for saving me." "No prob." She smiled and walked with Kate beside her. "I'm Paula, Rick's manager." "Oh Nice to meet you." "Likewise, Rick's talking with some friends but I'll show you to his table." "Ok thanks." She smiled and showed Kate into the large Ball room that looked like a palace. "Wow!" "Wow is right." She smiled and pointed to the round table with 5 chairs around it. "Here you are." "Thanks, Umm who else is going to be at the table ?" "Oh You'll be sitting with Rick of course, and Patterson, Cannell and Connolly." Kate's Jaw dropped and she shook her head. "Oh wow! Rick's friends with them!" "Ya and Stephen King but he couldn't make it tonight." "Gosh I never knew Rick knew that many famous people!" Chuckling she folded her arms. "Sweetie Rick knows lots of famous people and not just writers, he's friends with actors and sports stars, He's not just a small time writer." Kate realized it was true, He was friends with world famous people, Heck he was world famous, and she was just.. a principal." "I have to go talk to a friend so have fun." "Um thanks." She nodded and walked off leaving Kate in a haze.

She looked around a bit at all the people there. She caught Castle talking who looked to be the.. MAYOR! Darn he did know everyone. She sighed and sat down in one of the chairs not knowing how to feel about all of this. Maybe she should just go, she obviously didn't fit in here. She wasn't rich or famous, just a principal, and Rick was a world famous star who shouldn't want anything to do with her. As she was thinking she heard someone say something and then heard it clearly again. "Kate!!"
