"So, what's your plan?" I was distracted when Daphne spoke up. We've been on video call since earlier, discussing my surprise birthday plan for Danzel when he gets back home.
"I already rented a McDo birthday place," I replied, my eyes returning to my iPad where I was designing a poster for Danzel's birthday. We chose a Minion theme since his sisters told me it was his favorite character when he was young.
"Who's invited?" Daphne asked.
"Just us and his sisters. I don't want to invite anyone else; this is just for us," I answered, but my eyes stayed fixed on my iPad.
I was editing Danzel's face onto the minions, replacing them with pictures I had secretly taken of him.
"It looks like everything's set," Daphne remarked.
"Sort of, but I still need your help. How should I pull off my prank on him?" I asked.
"Let's just create a group chat; it's hard to chat one-on-one," Daphne suggested.
"Yeah, sure," I said, nodding my head.
"Anyway, what's your plan? It's already New Year's Eve," I asked Daphne.
"Hmm... I'll probably be with Mommy and Daddy only, and Mateo will visit me later," she said, her voice tinged with excitement.
"Edi Sana oh" biro ko kaya naman bigla siyang humalakhak
"Uyy, miss niya na" pang asar niya sa'kin
"Aminin mo na, miss mo na talaga!" Dagdag niya pa
"I didn't say anything naman ah" laban ko
"Pero miss mo na?"
"Of course!"
"I knew it! Sienna ginalaw ang baso Monroe" anya niya at humalakhak ulit ako naman ay napailing na lang
I won't deny it, I really miss him—his presence, how protective and caring he was. Kahit araw-araw kaming magka-VC, I still miss him.
"Sienna, I have to go. Tinatawag na ako nila Mom eh," Daphne said, so I nodded understandingly.
"Sure, Bye!" I replied, ending the call.
After ending the call, I immediately closed my laptop and leaned back against the headboard of my bed, continuing to edit on my iPad. I spent almost an hour working until I finished everything and knew where I needed to print the posters.
I closed my iPad, laid down in bed, closed my eyes, but soon I opened them again when my phone vibrated.
