Three months flew by in a whirlwind of events—birthdays, achievements, and deeper connections. Luna, Aiden, Skylar, Sebastian, and Valena celebrated their special days, while I found myself on the honors list once more, climbing higher in my class and overall rankings. Danzel and I grew inseparable, sharing weekends and coffee dates, gradually opening up about our worries. His presence became a comforting constant.
Meanwhile, my parents' hard work paid off as their business flourished. Claire and I pursued our dreams despite challenges, both of us striving beyond the confines of our academies.
Now, outside our science teacher's classroom, I nervously awaited my surprise quiz results. With only one classmate left inside, Danzel kept me company.
"I'm nervous," I admitted, scrolling through my phone as Danzel glanced over.
"It's okay to feel that way. Whatever the outcome, I'm proud of you," he reassured with a genuine smile.
Danzel had already checked his test and scored 43 out of 45.
Maya-maya pa ay lumabas na yung isa kong classmate galing sa loob ng classroom ni Ma'am kaya ako naman ang sumunod na pumasok, pinaiwan na ni Danzel sa kanya yung backpack ko.
Agad naman akong pumasok sa loob at ramdam ko ang pagbilis ng tibok ng puso ko, Lord sana kahit pasang awa lang po.
"Good Afternoon po, Ms. Sunshine" bati ko pagdating ko sa table ni Ma'am
"Here's your test paper" sabay abot sa'kin ng isang puting papel, agad ko naman tinignan 'to at nanlaki ang mata ko.
"You can leave now" sabi ni Ma'am kaya agad kong lumabas.
Pagkalabas ko bumungad sa'kin si Danzel.
"How was it?" he asked eagerly, and in my excitement, I leaped into his arms, wrapping mine around his neck.
"I got a perfect score!" I exclaimed happily, still holding onto him tightly and feeling his hand supporting my back.
"Congratulations, Cial. I'm proud of you," he whispered sweetly.
"Thank you," I replied, stepping back from the hug. I was overjoyed with my grade—another achievement unlocked.
"Where are we going?" I asked Danzel as we exited the school. He had told me yesterday that we were leaving today, but I had no idea where.
"Ice skating," he answered, causing me to gasp in surprise.
"Really?" I asked excitedly, and he nodded with a smile.
I'm not particularly good at ice skating; I had only tried it once with Claire. She knows how to balance well, and she tried to teach me, but I couldn't quite get the hang of it for long. Thankfully, today we were in casual clothes, not uniforms. As we left the school, there weren't many students around anymore—some had already gone home, while others lingered inside.
Danzel quickly led me towards their car, guiding me carefully. "Careful," he said, his hand gently on top of my head, a habit of his whenever I got in or out of the car.
I didn't know where we were going exactly, but I knew one thing for sure: we were going ice skating.
"Nag lalaro ka pa ng COD?" tanong ko kay Danzel
"Yes, why?"
"Do you want to play?" he asked
"Sure" mabilis na sagot ko
