"What are you doing?" Danzel's voice broke through the silence of my study session.
I glanced up from my notes, my mind swirling with formulas and equations I needed to master before Monday's exams. Tomorrow would be a break from this relentless grind, a time for celebration we had all been looking forward to. Danzel and I were in FaceTime right now because he insisted on catching up.
"Reviewing," I replied, my eyes flitting back to the page.
"What subject?" he inquired, genuine concern lacing his voice.
"I've finished two subjects, just math left," I sighed, frustration evident in my tone.
"It's tough," I admitted, feeling the weight of my struggle.
"What lesson? Let me help," Danzel offered, his concern palpable.
"No need," I murmured, not wanting to burden him.
"Come on, Cial," he persisted, his gaze steady.
I glanced up, meeting his eyes. I had been buried in my notes moments ago, but who was Cial anyway? Who was this person he seemed to be referring to?
"Are you done yet?" I redirected, trying to clear my confusion.
He nodded. "Yeah."
"In math too?" I prodded further, needing reassurance.
"Yes," he replied softly.
"Then it's all good," I muttered, half to myself.
I heard him chuckle softly, a sound that was oddly comforting in the midst of my academic stress.
"Now, tell me, which lesson?" he asked gently.
"This one," I replied, showing him the section of my notes that had me stumped.
"All of that?" he asked, shaking his head incredulously.
"No, just this part. I couldn't wrap my head around how Sir solved this," I admitted, feeling a bit defeated.
"Hmm, let me make an example," he said, rising from his seat to grab something.
As Danzel began to write out examples to help me understand, I organized my notes, preparing for Monday's spare moments when I could revise quickly. I must have waited for about thirty minutes, absorbed in my reading. Danzel eventually finished and sent the examples to me, instructing me to study them first before he would explain further to ensure I grasped the concepts.
As I delved into my studies, suddenly a craving hit me—milk tea and takoyaki sounded perfect right now. I checked my GCash balance, hoping to order something via Grab, but found only 50 pesos left after recent transactions.
