Lost Little Sheepies𐮙

Matilda's POV          25th September, 1985

"No offence, Tillie, but why are you still sitting here - Y'know - at the Tiger's table?" Crystal, a member of the cheer team asks, sass in her voice.

I'd just set my tray of cafeteria food on the table and sat myself down alongside Chrissy, who was holding hands with Jason while she used her other hand to open up her pink lunchbox.

I looked at Crystal, dumbfounded - she's right, why am I here? Chrissy had insisted upon me still sitting at her table, it was probably pity.

"Tillie will always be welcome at the Tiger's table," Chrissy chirped, glancing at me with her sweet crooked smile before nudging my shoulder - I smiled half-heartedly in response.

I noticed Jason scoff at the attention I was receiving from Chrissy, "It is called the Tiger's table for a reason, babe - you have to be a tiger to be here, Tillie isn't - she's no longer one of us," He spoke, gesturing at everyone sitting at the table apart from me.

I glare at him, biting my lips together, "You'd better eat your lunch quickly before I shove it where the sun doesn't shine," I say sweetly, as if I'm joking - I'm not and Jason knows that... but Chrissy doesn't.

Chrissy giggles softly, blushing, "You're funny, Tillie."

A triumphant smile spreads across my lips - Hah, in your face Jason! Even without the cheerleader gear I'm beating you!

Jason shuffles uncomfortably in his seat before quickly tucking into his food.

"Calm down, baby," Chrissy giggles, turning to Jason.

I nibble on my bottom lip as I stare at the food on my own plate, my appetite immediately vanished due to everyone else at the table staring at me like they wanted me to leave them alone... but where else would I sit? I knew I'd feel so lost if I ever had to sit anywhere else. I couldn't even sit at the Hellfire table because Eddie hated me... ever since I'd confessed that I wanted those notes to be from Billy, not him.

Eddie was reluctant to even look at me now - I'd stopped trying to communicate with him during class.

I must've really hurt him. I slowly looked up from my food and examined the cafeteria, looking for one table and one table only. Hellfire. When I spotted it I watched out of curiosity, trying to be sneaky about it by taking fleeting glances.
